Help with OVH Failover IP's for 2nd Nameserver

I need help with Plesk, I've already added the 2nd IP and it does indeed work I just want to make sure I setup the DNS records properly.

I usually just use the default dns records in the past, but I really want to make use of using an actual 2nd nameserver.

What all do I need to add in the DNS zone? other than just NS1 > Main IP and NS2 > 2nd IP.

Also I want 1 domain to use its on dedicated IP and then use the servers main IP as NS2 name server? What would I need to add in the DNS zone?

Sorry if its confusing I cant explain well over typing.

Thanks!

  • If both NS1 and NS2 on same server, just use one IP for both NS.

I guess I'll just do that to keep it simple. Just thought I'd make use of a 2nd IP.

Can these Failover IP's be used as normal IP addresses without issue?

  • What's with all the DNS issues these days?

No issues, just noob with DNS zones/records with more than 1 IP address

I never use fail over IP before, if port 53 opened on these IP, you'll able to use that for nameserver
