The UK datacenter will release in ~1 week. Germain, head of dedicated servers, confirmed it.

I spoke to OVH on the phone today and they said UK dc will be announced some time this year... the guy on the phone also said, "I can't tell you the exact location due to security", well duh!

I hope this is public cloud, not VPS :)

I have quite a lot of stuff in Leaseweb SG that I want to move..

Thanks Maiko :) Would you be kind enough to check out for the following IPs from Singtel?

    118.200.224.1

This one is pretty good actually. 40ms. Transit through TATA.

    116.15.2.1

This one can be better... 178ms. Transit through TATA, go to US and get back using TELIA.

Do you have access to that IP ? I need an MTR from it to my test server.

Additionally, will you guys look at StarHub latency as well? I do have ticket 1165379936 open for it, though here's the IP you can look at as well :)

    116.89.88.1

    This one is strange...

I don't know where it goes to get that high latency... Same as above : do you access to it to get me an mtr ?

At start, only VPS as a standalone product. Public Cloud with all flavours should be available later this year.

  • Off topic but it is possible for regular customers to use Plik.ovh? I get an access denied error as my IP isn't authorized so maybe not

  • MaikoBMaikoB Member

plik.ovh is our private instance, only us can upload files to it ;)
Plik is OpenSource if you want : https://github.com/root-gg/plik/

Is 40ms for a local IP considered good? :(

Sorry, I don't have access to Singtel connection in that range.

Please look at ticket 1165379936, I posted the reverse traceroute there for Starhub to my server.

Here's what it looks like for the hops before, though: https://m.kyaa.sg/Wf49134L.png

I think if you can fix it for this, the one on your Smokeping test will be better too :) http://sgp.smokeping.ovh.net/smokeping?target=APAC.AS10091

Is it "local" ? Because from the traceroute, it seem to go to Hong Kong and stay there...

    Starhub

I just got the information that we have contacted them to have a peering :) They are ok with that and we are finalising the details. Should be better soon !

Yes, "local". Comparison mtr from another Singapore network to that IP: https://m.kyaa.sg/gmRGcb4R.png

That's great :) you guys move fast

  • Yeah peering seems to resolve a decent amount of latency issue reports, I know AU has benefited from huge improvements as far as that goes as well

@MaikoB any possibility to improve route to china, like AU could go through Telstra Global?

It's most likely because Singnet uses a direct return route to OVH, but for the forward route (which you see on trace) it goes to Hong Kong and back.

    Something like:

    OVH SG->Hong Kong->Singnet = ~38ms
    Singnet->OVH SG (direct) = ~2ms

= 40ms latency that you see in mtr.

China is a very hard... and not our main target for now. But if you have any case that we can work on, just send them to us so we can check if something can be fixed in the short-term.

You are looking for solution in the long-term but it will take time.

Yeah, that make sense and I've already had issue like that. I've send it to our network guys to take a look.

This is way over the LET price, please read the rules :-)

the rule mentions "VPS", this offer is a discount for a dedicated server however

VPS must not exceed USD$7/month recurring on monthly billing, with no setup fee
