@desperand Thank you for the review.

Just For clarification, we also do our own Layer 4 mitigation. If you want to test the Layer 4, feel free to hit me up via PM. Always happy to help with research.

We hope also to be increasing the base protection offered in the US from 20G to perhaps 40G in the near future, we also have some very big news regarding 100G pricing & changes coming very shortly (next week).

FYI, NL is now 100Gbps Guarunteed (and 1.4-1.5Tbps burst). Our agreement with the upstream network allows us to take any attack (which does not saturate any peering/transit link) for a reasonably long time up to near the full capacity of the network. Only attacks >100G will be nullrouted at a certain point when it obviously starts becoming too costly (95th). Havent had the need to null anyone in NL in well over a year (might even be 2).

Your service is good but price seems high to me. Your smallest package is 10$, with that price i can get BuyVM KVM + 1 Filtered IP which also good and cheaper.

@sonic Our smallest package is $10.00/month in both the US and EU.

Got to pay for the R&D, Development, management, support, monitoring, and hardware for mitigation (and etc) somehow unfortunately. Not to mention the hundreds of TB/month eaten in Layer 4 leakage and Layer 7. To offer a quality service, it costs money.

Honestly, I have seen what some of our resellers charge and have to say - we could be charging ALOT more. What you get with us, vs a filtered IP from a network level filtering provider is considerably different in quality.

Also @caffeinejolt we have gear in Voxility Romania too. Its a very stable location. Most of the incidents seen arent actually Voxility RO (Bucharest) its the other locations in the Voxility Global network. Either way its usually 99.9% or so baring any big Voxility slips.

I wouldn't say Voxilities protection is perfect, we see alot of leaks. Hence why we have extra mitigation (Riorey Platform) in RO.

  • Great content :)

However, I am reading mixed reviews about OVH, what is their current status, they are still that good? ( Considering the post is from last year)

  • I'd like to see more discussion of DDOS protection. One of my 'rules' when purchasing VPS is that they must have minimum of 10gbit of ddos protection and ideally over 20.

no layer specific? because some with even 40gbps can't stop all type attacks only basic attacks.

Had not read this one. Very interesting. Is there anyone who has reviews for Hetzner's DDoS Mitigation? We have a server there and havent noticed a single issue but I do not think we ever got DDoSed.

Not a review, but I've been attacked there a few times (All udp) and they seemed to have no issue with it.

No, nothing specific. When I purchased non-protected hosting I found I would be taken offline by other customers getting DDOS... So I buy it mainly for that purpose. It is very cheap to get protection though. I have cheap Voxility protection with Virmach, cheap Psychz protection with HostUS and cheap 'CC Buffalo/Riorey' protection with Virmach. (As well as whatever my Kimsufi server has.)

I do not think I really get attacked all that much if ever but its nice to have if its thrown in free or for next to nothing.

That's because Hetzner added DDoS protection to their services after this thread was posted. I think Hetzner's protection is great, currently colo'ing 3 1u servers their and have withstood the few attacks it has received very well.

They give you a detailed log of the attack, and some of the senders that sent most of the traffic. I host gameservers, and because their protection is in-line, I don't notice any disconnects at all. Really pleased.

MyLoc does not have any DDoS protection, they don't advertise that they do anywhere.

Web Tropia does, I know that it is basically the same company. However, MyLoc does not say they have any DDoS protection so you can not know for certain if Web Tropia's protection is carried over.
