Are these the EOL disks? Hence low price.
4 TB can't be so old... looks like a good deal to me.
If anyone gets one be good to see disk life, if they are EOL I believe they are only replaced with EOL when/if they break.
i don't now. you can ask at [email protected]
This is an amazing offer, emailed them asking if they rent subnets, as it seems to be possible to order a maximum of 3 IP's.
Allo, who said 24TB?
Hetzner's storage line still better
For around 66 EUR (I'd add little more RAM though), definitely worth.
I've emailed them asking if it's possible to add more than 3 IP's, and what sort of HDD's/CPU do they deploy on these.
I only have eyes for the TBs, couldn't care less about the rest.
significantly worse network on hetzner tho
For asian people 2 years ago or what?
What am i missing? Hetzner BX60 is 44e~, and that includes 10TB of storage, is just storage and not a dedi etc
SX61
69€ excl. vat for 4x6TB, i7 3770 and 32gb of ram
Incoming unlimited and outgoing 30tb @ 1gbps
Yeah, True. The ~70e setup fee is the only(?) drawback (and consumer CPU/nonECC i guess) compared. dont know anything about the network tho.
My mistake
Their reply btw:
The support rep doesn't sound very confident.
He said he would need to contact his supervisor should I want to order the subnet so I guess it may be possible.
They were very fast getting back to me which is a plus... Maybe its just the similar timezone but still.
NFOrce is great especially with their support. They've always been laid back and super nice whenever I've contacted them.
@MikePT I can provide Nforce BW and subnets for any of these; assuming they allow to CC them to my existing infra instead of public internet (they do on any normal server or colo), but they likely will not discount the BW away from the price then either so it adds up.
HW offered for the price is ok i guess, with the HDDs not bad at all. CPUs and RAM useless for ZFS however.
But can I have a USB to boot from?
The ecc ram (if present), absence of setup fee, and hw raid controller (especially if it can do raid 6) make this an interesting alternative to the sx61. However there are bigger Hetzner servers (sx131 and sx291) that use xeon cpus, have more drives, and (sx291) have hw raid, at comparable cost per disk TB to the sx61.
I've ordered one of these last night and it's provisioned a few hours ago. So, it's been provisioned in less than 12 hours.
I've asked for RAID6, Jessie and custom partitions and all was setup.
The server has these specs:
Hmhm I see. Lets see how it goes but sounds good for a backup server.
uuh yesss... what's the real net storage? should be around 14,5TB in HW R6?
must. resist. the. urge.
Disk /dev/sda: 14.6 TiB, 16000900661248 bytes, 31251759104 sectors
nforce is better for torrents/plex/etc... even if you only use a hetznerbox on a private tracker its high risk
no..
If you use decent private trackers it's perfectly fine.
have you ever seen bots from scc, gft, rarbg (open), ipt or any other tracker using hetzner? even on private trackers its still a risk and when you are german don't even think about to use a hetzner box on a german tracker. the average user has also no encrypted harddrives...
nforce is better when its comes to abuse handling or customers privacy, m247 is also good they even do "abuse slowdown" when you are big enough like openload or something like that.
hetzner is for legal stuff the #1
Yes.
Using a german server as german for illegal things in germany is straight up dumb, regardless what ISP it is. This is fact.
Using a german server for torrent as Chinese in some town in inner Mongolia.... well, yea, what will the german gov do? Call Beijing?
They do not, they just walk the fine line UK law implies for US DMCA.
With M247 you also get UK laws in all locations, which means.... hosting in Spain is pointless overall.
Not too relevant, they first have to prove it is your server, not like the average illegal will use real data for purchase....
