Why E5-1620v2 is more cheaper than E3-1225v2?
I have 2 dedicated server (E5-1620v2) at soyoustart.
Intel Xeon E5-1620v2, 16gb, 2X2 TB = $35/m
Intel Xeon E3-1225v2, 16gb, 2X2 TB = $42/m
They are the same except cpu.
I googled cpu benchmark, and realized E5 is higher than E3.
I don't understand Why E5-1620v2 is more cheaper than E3-1225v2.
Does E3-1225v2 have strength campared to E5-1620v2?

The E3 has iGPU (as it is xxx5) - E5 has higher clock, more RAM support and registered ECC instead of unbuffered.
The E3 has SSE 4.1/4.2, the E5 has OS guard and secure key. Both have AVX. The E5 can hold AVX permanently while the E3 will clock down by power or thermal limit. All of this points are likely not relevant for you.
The major difference is power usage - 130W vs. 77W - and that the E5 offers 40 vs. 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes.
Overall the E5 is always the better choice in this case - against a 1280v2, 1290v2 or certain 127xv2 this would look different and it would also be different if you'd actually pay the power consumed as nearly all E3s are far more efficient per W (1225v2 is = 88/W and 1620v2 = 73/W, however a 1280v2 = 141/W so nearly double).
It's a bit difficult to understand. just keeping E5. Thanks.!
You could also look at http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Xeon-E5-1620-v2-vs-Intel-Xeon-E3-1225-v2
Hint: entering something like "1620v2 vs 1225v2" in google will give you the appropriate cpuboss page in the top result
cpuboss and gpuboss are both shit sites. use http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/396/Intel_Xeon_E3-1225_v2_vs_Intel_Xeon_E5-1620_v2.html instead
Why not using cpubenchmark.net ?

Memory price could be the cause. DDR3 REG ECC sticks are cheap as hell.
Aside from hardware specs, sometimes providers price servers cheaper because that hardware is more available. They may have more E5-1620v2 in stock, or they have a hardware distributor who has more E5-1620v2 in stock.
No one here pointed out that the E3-1225 got only 4 cores ? Where the E5-1620 have 4 cores and 8 threads. Also, turbo speed 3.6Ghz vs 3.9Ghz.

Because OVH is weird.
Many of them may be second-hand, have you ever known electronic waste?
They are old OVH standard spec hardware.
