"predictable performance with no CPU limits or throttles" is on their features page

    From their FAQ:

Q: How many machines share a physical host, and how do you manage CPU?

A: On average across a platform a physical server is shared by about 30 machines.

The host servers are extremely powerful HP Blade Servers (BL460C) with the latest Intel Xeon CPUs and extremely fast RAM and networking. We monitor the clouds constantly, 24/7 to prevent abuse and issues and ensure stability and reliability.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that implies the CPU resources are not dedicated. The only mention of dedicated resources is on their Hybrid and Baremetal offerings, not their Cloud services. Simply stating "no CPU limits or throttles" doesn't in itself mean dedicated.

For the sake of clarity, we don't dedicated cores 1:1 but we also don't limit of throttle users for 100% usage - relying instead on the very large core count on our HP Blades and our ability to move workloads about if needed to ensure you can use all the cores you buy,

Looking around a little I'll easily find true dedicated servers for less money.

I'm quite mistrusting re. all those "dedicated" VPS, "slices" and the like. Besides, frankly, if providers combed out all assholes who abuse their VPSs, we wouldn't have the problem anyway.
So, what's all the dedi VPS and slices fuzz all about anyway? I think it pretty much boils down to somewhat less neighbours, i.e. a core not being shared over 4 - 8 users but over 2 - 4 or, in rare optimal cases core == vCore.

No matter what, a "dedi VPS" w/4 vCores for basically 80€/mo seems just weird to me.

regular price €160.. this is only a new launch price.

never understood why people want a VPS with dedicated cores, if you want dedicated resources you get a dedicated server, obviously I understand people 'want' to pay VPS money for a dedicated server, but in this case you are right, it is dedicated server money for a VPS essentially.

I do see 1 valid desire, namely to get a small virtual dedi, i.e. the logic "I don't need 8 or 12 or even more cores but neither do I want a (standard) shared and probably oversold VPS".

In that field the hw manufacturers had little to offer for a long time. Now, however with the 8 core Atoms and the Xeon-D and tight 3 or 4 HE blade servers it gets quite feasible. Problem being, of course, that the VPS segments strongly tends to use 2nd hand equipment which translates into a delay of some 2 or 3 years.

No matter, however, even with hungry older, say 56xx Xeons it's feasible and I do understand that many see that as a way to get something like server slices, i.e. "true" hw slices, say with KVM.
But even then, say based on dual 56xx Xeons with a total of 16 cores, I'd expect a 4 true cores dedi VPS to cost no more than a max of 25€.

79€ after a 50% reduction sounds just insane to me.

  • GamerGamer Member

Windows? If so at what extra cost if any?

  • Great servers from @dediserve .. but expensive. Some months ago they did a special promotion here on LET where there was 50% discount + 50% discount!

At the time I got a 4CPU + 4GB + 100GB SSD + 500Mbps per 15 €/ month. If @dediserve can make this deal again (even for just a few hours or 1 day) I would buy some new servers from them.

I also wanted to upgrade this server to a more powerful VPS maybe with 8 or even 16GB RAM...

As said before their service and servers are great!

As I said earlier. If you want to compare budget VPS our server line is 30€ for that spec

Dediserve regular pricing is designed for an 'elastic' demand pattern, hence it needs to be higher. (like ec2 when they started)

They've done zero-profit $7( LEB limit) promos for 2gb resource pools back in 2014.
These are my conservative choice vps keepers that I don't want to migrate every 18months during some random provider Deadpool/acquisition

Vienna, Docklands(lon2) , are great locations EU connectivity wise.

If someone is on one of the Dublin locations, please share some net benches.

    There are a few reasons.

    1. It's easier to get a console to a VM then a dedi when things get sideways.
    2. Elastic resources.
    3. Being able to say there is a baseline is nice.

I like dedicated hardware. It's just a pain to deal with at times, especially when it's in a datacenter that isn't easy to walk into. Hybrid setups are a good middle ground between the two.

Yep seems I am being a little bit brain dead today, despite it being pointed out to me I did not understand that these are elastic dedicated resources.

I am human, I am tired, I made a mistake.

    Sorry.

First seen Dediserve in 2011, I remember old their interface website :), then glad to see them expand server to over the world. Per Hosting Provider has unique or special feature suite for me, in this case Dediserve has good spec/network/price in Hong Kong and Singapore so far.

Well, so maybe they aren't the cheapest, but here in Norway they are definitely on the cheap side of things. Might be one of the cheapest I've seen here actually.
