Dedi server with 128GB RAM for under ~$180/month

I am curious if there are better alternatives to the OVH SP-128 server https://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/enterprise/163sp4.xml

I am using it for an important production service and I am curious if I can get something better from a different provider.

  • More Ghz is better than more cores.
  • SSD or NVMe in raid.
  • 128GB of RAM or more.
  • And obviously uptime is important.

Is anyone aware of anything similar or OVH is the best I can get for my budget?

1gbps port speed (500 mbps guarantee) 4 network to choose

    1 ipv4

10 tb /mo (after this you will be limited to 250mbps)

    128gb ram

I have one budget server somewhat close to what your looking for:
    Dual Intel Xeon L5520
    » CPU: Dual Intel Xeon L5520 2.26Ghz $0.00 USD
    » Memory: 72 GB DDR2 ECC $0.00 USD
    » Primary SSD: 1TB HD 7200 RPM $0.00 USD
    » Secondary SSD/HD: None $0.00 USD
    » Port Speed / Bandwidth: 100M/Unmetered $0.00 USD

    https://my.oplink.net/cart.php?a=add&pid=113
Normally 99/mo but with coupon ded50 takes off 50% off.. Total = $49.50. Switch to 120G SSD if you like in the options or upgrade to a bigger ssd at checkout.

Nothing with you, but if you dont look a ban in this forum try to give property offers , also if you are provider try to aplay the provider status.

That one and dual PX61-NVMe is not a bad choice either

    crap old server offer

Even if you were magically able to sum performance of 3 of that servers you are offering, it would be pricier and have worst performance.

Learn to read op request instead of spamming

I think that you're allowed to post (reply) to threads without the tag. You only need it to post in the Offers Section iirc

I do agree though; excessive advertising and self promotion eh?

Agreed, but I just couldn't stop myself with the possibility of reading EVERYTHING out of RAM at 50c/GB :D

Could you do BGP session on that dedicated server? We want to announce our own ips and anycast :)

  • For your budget, either go with OVH or cociu's offer. I doubt anything else will be better for the budget.

yes will not be a problem for a such amount

@oplink You've made at least 5 posts; you may consider (re)reading the requirements to get a provider tag, then apply accordingly.

Dedibox ent 2016 looks perfect for you, but it is currently not in stock. https://www.online.net/en/dedicated-server

  • So far Hetzner looks great, even with the setup cost. I will consider it for the switch.

@saf31 The online.net ENT 2016 is interesting, but I worry about the E5 2620 v4 CPU. I think E5-1650 v3 would be faster for my use case. Few requests in parallel but they have to analyze a lot of data.

  • Using online.net would be career suicide. Hetz has a better network and OVH is even better.

If you order the SP-128 w/ NVMes you'll get the v4 version of the E5-1650 with DDR4 2400 memory, which is slightly better.

I personally had multiple (small or large) outages while using their vps line (scaleway). Meanwhile, my hetzner server never did more than blip for a second during a ddos...

Network port upgrade to 1gbit @49€ is one time fee as stated. And usually you can use bit more than 5tb on the higher plans like this. Best is to write the support if you have special requirements. :)

Traffic is not as cheap as OVH and Hetzner as they do also peer with german Telekom aka dtag peering which is up to 5× more expensive than cogent shit peering for example.
Support is also very responsive ccompared to ovh if you have technical questions.

    Greetings Kevin
