Is there a Newb based tutorial on Clustering Servers/FailOver Sever/ Master-Master/ Master -Slave?
Greetings,
I am a newb! However, with the help of the Lord I was able to successfully install Centmin mod. However, I am wondering is there a newb based tutorial on how to setup clusters of servers, not only for geo-location but mainly for backup. As an online eCommerce store, I believe that it will be critical to have this setup or similar setup.
Specifically, the ability to have a master slave and a separate server to mitigate problems down the line. I ask because I believe that this would be a cost effective solution but do not quite yet understand how this would work in practice.
As a startup, I want to start off my business the right way but as of right now money is sparse, anyone know of some good tutorials for newbs?
Simply I am looking to have two servers with the same data, one for backend (load inventory - backup - Fail Over) and the other one for the main server. Load balancing would be a plus but really not needed at this time.

please read this article https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/5-common-server-setups-for-your-web-application
then tell me what do you want to achieve also do you have 2 dedicated servers or 2 vps as i recommend you start with vps for the cost and also get them from separated providers .
let me know if you need any help
Thanks Anapp, I will look into that. I have a vps now from OVH but possibly looking to get another vps. I know others may state to leave that environment to setup a server elsewhere but honestly they are so cheap.
You have a very nice website by the way. I am starting with VPS but looking for a simple but efficient setup. I will have to read over the information. Thanks for your reply. God bless you!
first thanks for your feed back
you can go with any provider just choose another location consider the first one is down you will use the second also you could buy cdn from cloudflare or another provider also if you need cheap vps from ovh check https://www.kimsufi.com/en/ they are ovh under new name ,also this https://www.soyoustart.com/ie/ if you need cheap dedicated servers from ovh and offcourse lowendbox.com to get nice deal .
for ecommerce website you can start with 1 vps or even with shared depend on the script you will use . and then buy another vps or cdn as you grow .
please choose one setup from the tutorial in the previous comment and let us know if you need further help or related links .
Well, anapp the platfor I use is X-Cart, I really need the backup solution as I have about 1300 products on my site and I have to input them over manually. I still have thousands of products to go. So I am not going to put my trust in the software I need a real live fully working backup in order to go forward.
you are right ljseals , you need backup server or enable snapshot from ovh https://www.ovh.com/us/vps/backup-vps.xml or choose reliable provider who do backup vps daily . also here is screenshot for x-cart Hardware requirements
please note that the link we provide in the first comment will not help you in backup and all you need to backup daily is the database only and you can achieve this through cron job
again let us know if you need further help
