How do I share folders between two linux machines if I am having trouble with fuse?

I can't install fuse on my debian server for some reason. It did some reading and it is either an error with debian's/fuses packages or a problem with using fuse on a vps.
I am not sure how I know which one it is and or if the problem is surmountable?
I was trying to setup sshfs but fuse always throws me out.
What are my other options or do they all rely on fuse?
Maybe I will look at lsyncd again.
EDIT son of a bitch lsyncd relies on fuse as well!
I have used syncthing in the past but I prefer to use base tools like sshfs if I can. Ideally I would like to figure out why fuse doesnt work but if it can't be fixed Ill accept it and look for the other options.

Ask your provider to enable the Fuse module on the node?
I have. Guess I will have to wait till monday/tuesday? to see about that but I will look to other alternatives in the meantime.
