Strategy to get my @yahoo.com email account dropped?
I have a @yahoo.com and the password - but I no longer have access to the phone number for 2FA verification. I don't want access to this account anymore - I just want it dropped and all relevant data deleted. I haven't accessed it in nearly a year.
I tried contacting that phone number to get the code - but I think it's still un-reassigned. (also tried looking for the SIM in various drawers, closets, ..)
Yahoo's help pages are useless, and they made it very time-consuming to simply find a form to contact a support agent. When I did find that form, Yahoo rejected my submission because it's only "for privacy and policy questions."
I fired an email to [email protected] but no response.
Does anybody have any creative solutions? Unfortunately, my email is in the form of first.last@yahoo.com and my name is very, very uncommon. I don't think making it personal with CISO Bob Lord would be in my best interest.

You're probably SOL unless you get in actual contact with their staff. You could get in contact on their Twitter or something
No way . Unless you get help for yahoo and that is unlikely
You could try sending a lot of large attachments to it but your best chance is to reach out to them.
Something like this happened to my namecheap account too a while ago. I didn't have access to my old phone number, and therefore couldn't login to the account due to the 2 factor verification. so I contacted them, and then was asked to verify my identity by providing these details. I provided them all plus the proofs that I actually own all the domains in that account by sending them a screenshot of webmaster tool with the domains/their verification states, so they disabled the 2 factor verification and allowed me to access to my account. so I suggest to contact them, and give them as much as details related to the account, then they will probably release your account to you back.
Namecheap username;
Also depending on payment source which was used to process your order please provide the following:
I disagree. I've had to contact them once because my preferred license wasn't an available option on Flickr, and got a fast and non-canned response - and several months later, the license I'd requested was added.
Yahoo, despite its many flaws, is probably the only internet company with a serious and actually-helpful support department.
Not sure if they changed their policies, but it seems to me like there is no such thing as delete over there... I had a few yahoo.com e-mail addresses way back in the day and deactivated them. Years later, I ended up needing something attached to one of the e-mail addresses, and tried to re-open thinking that it would need to be re-created. Guess what, they never deactivated it, and was able to log in normally. It had like 50K spam messages in it.
US companies keep everything forever, accounts, emails, pics, phone calls records, etc There impossible get all data deleted from servers even after close account by self.
Just wait until they publish all accounts passwords
Only nuclear strike can delete all data forever
Wow. Is Ramnode and BuyVM support clownish and useless by your standards? Also: how did you contact Yahoo support? It took me awhile to find a form, and then my submission was denied for the aforementioned reason. I guess they are anticipating a barrage of tickets and tried to make it difficult for customers to contact them.
That's not true: Google removes data from servers when you delete an email, and Facebook removes data when you "Permanently Delete" (not deactivate) your account.
I have the password and username - just not the phone number to receive a code via SMS for 2FA.
Naive Inc. they tell done but really not.
Really? What do you even sign up for
Lots of nigarian princes and porn.
It was a five letter username; it got sent spam all the time. Part of the reason why I stopped using it. Anyway, I just tried to log in again a few years later and it appears to be really deactivated now.
Deactivated not meant all your data deleted from their servers, they can access all your data if needed
That's not the definition of "internet company" I'm using.
Hrm. They seem to have removed the ticket system
Could you not get a prepaid sim with the Carrier you had the number on and ask them to give you back that number if it hasn't been reassigned yet? I know its a bit of hassle to do, but if you really want it gone might be your only option
The thing is: I'm not in that country anymore. And that country is Ukraine. (The carrier is Russian-owned Kyivstar, btw)
@jiggawattz You could try to send Yahoo a request to delete all the data from your account via mail and cite data privacy laws. Depending on where you live they would be obliged to delete your account in that case.
