sorry... but...
this is the result after pushing and pulling around 100 GB from one server to another and parking them on netcup in between and so on... I wouldn't really speak of any hard limit so far. I only did transfer via ssh/scp anyways...
the only thing I noticed were upload speeds breaking down to around 100Mbps for single large files at some point after the first 500 MB... may be cache related, but I pushed to OVH and hetzner (also tried to pull from there) and saw this behaviour each time for connections outgoing from netcup.
while incoming speeds to netcup had been steady (and higher than 100 Mbps) I'd guess they may have some automatic limiting in place, probably connection / stream-size based or something like that. maybe I also have to try to rsync some GB to see what happens to smaller files...
don't want to punch a hole in thin paper but after all I can see no instant hard limit happening for now ;-) ;-)
maybe they'll contact me later or issue a warning or do nothing at all. it's the first hours I work with the server, maybe they have a grace period or something like this. so many options, who knows ^^
this is Amitz now
stay strong, why you need it anyway ...
I have everything under control. I have everything under control.
didn't you say you gave up on consolidating? so no more dedis, but keep on using VMs from different providers (eggs/basket)? seems to be an affordable egg ...
if at least I had the slightest idea now what to use this box for
this is how it most probably will turn out: played with it, didn't achieve to break it entirely, eventually lost interest, for sure forget to cancel in about two months...
Oh, stop it already!
love this but my bank charges $50 per intl bank transfer.. and a currency exchange fee.. and a foreign transaction fee.. per payment..
and their online banking is currently down..
Use https://transferwise.com/ or if I might use my personal invite link https://transferwise.com/u/8607a for bank transfers. Much cheaper and easy to use.
Time for a new bank my friend.
My other one doesn't support intl transfers at all

Read the cancellation policy, before you proceed.
where are you from?
So?
@tr1cky I understood it that it needs to be sent by postal mail to their address?
Email is enought
Cancellations must be made in writing (e.g. letter, fax or email).
Germany since 1st of October has new laws for this. An email is enough in any case now. If any provider in Germany does not allow cancelation by email they are acting against German law.
Couldn't find an English article for it, but here's a German article regarding this: http://t3n.de/news/vertraege-e-mail-kuendigen-751760/
the part posted is not the normal cancellation policy but the right of withdrawal policy.
In europe as a customer (not b2b though) you are granted to withdraw from contracts made online for a period of at least 14 days. and providers or shops are forced by law to send you this policy for taking notice.
from their terms and conditions:
so you need to cancel, no automatic expiry...
you need to do this at least on the last day of a month to cancel at the end of the following month. make iot 31 or 32 days in advance just to be sure...
also be advised, that this offer comes with a quarterly contract and payment term, which most probably means, if you don't cancel 31 days in advance to the end of the billing period you're going to be charged another quarterly term!
in the states rn; where you get charged hilarious fees to even receive one and multiple 'foreign transaction fees' because america
anyone PM me IP for tracert? Thanks
So was virtualization not possible with netcup before? My ovz instances on my kvm vps with them were running Just fine about a year vack. Or does virtualization indicates the use of kvm/xen instances and No ovz?
interested in this possibility also .. has anyone done this with netcup kvm root servers?
When using full/hardware virtualization technology, such as KVM or XEN, it's a given that you can use OpenVZ. This is because OpenVZ is OS-level virtualization (i.e. containers).
A few times, I've cut up KVM VPSs (with other providers) into smaller OpenVZ chunks to better separate projects or components. Often, additional IPv4 addresses come in handy when its different clients.
Just ensure that the KVM/XEN VPS is sufficiently sized for the OpenVZ partitions that you wish to create. Knowing the LEB community, there's bound to be someone who thinks he can cut a 128MB KVM into a dozen (or more) smaller OpenVZ containers ;-)
tnx for the info .. bought one of these babies today so I will give OpenVZ a test drive over the week-end (it's time to wean myself off vmware/hyper-v)
any recommendations for a openvz-on-kvm install guide?
@mik997, there are plenty of guides for the installation of OpenVZ on Cent OS 6, even an official one on the OpenVZ website itself. Probably best to stick to that for your first attempt.
I haven't tried OpenVZ on Cent OS 7 using the latest packages.
Yes.
in this case the nested virt ado is about doing kvm on kvm ;-)
ordered this 1pm yesterday, delivered today 9am
€19.61 for three months with the €5 coupon (hat tip to @stasi)
decent benchmark results - now I just gotta find a damn use for it ... tsk
Would you run Geekbench on it?
can I exclude tax?

Well ... today I'm having my second problem with netcup with the sam symptoms as before.
The server is running but it's inaccessible either directly or in the control panel
Im already send them an email ... I hope they have some support there!
