  • Is international bandwidth not capped (eg from ~100 mbps to ~ 5 mbs or even less) when I use 1 TB traffic from usa to jkt or vice versa ? I will use your vps as an "intermediary" for backup and restore data from cpanel server in usa.

    Hi @bayu

This is your most probable best setup

JKT <-> SG <-> ANYWHERE to USA

Looks like it's a local problem, it works fine on an other network. Excuse me.
Anyway, the latency looks way to high for me. From Singapore to France is 250+, it goes via the US instead of SG > AMS > France or SG > LON > France.
The Indonesian latency is also 200+.

    Try this one https://lgid.serverkeren.com/

Route to FR (Yes 200+, but direct not via US, as OVH have direct and same peers as to DECIX)

traceroute to lgeu.serverkeren.com (46.105.248.192), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets

    1 ip-1-150-236.serverkeren.net (103.236.150.1) 0.629 ms 2.076 ms 2.369 ms

Yes, 200+. The Singapore one is even 250+.
I'm looking for a cheap VPS that has <200 latency to France.

I'm afraid you'll hardly find one in APAC.

It depends on where the traffic will be going to, what ASN, what peers, what destination in (which parts of) EU?

Your best bet would be from India or UAE (to southern part of EU, like Greece). They have good peers to EU (rather than JP or HK). Please seek submarinecablemap.com to better understanding how transit goes (I bet there is nearly hard to find what you are looking for -likewise impossible).
We are occupying this one http://www.submarinecablemap.com/#/submarine-cable/matrix-cable-system

Only six companies in Indonesia that have and operate submarine cable system, and you got us within them. We can offer clients: IPLC, IP Transit, etc. across Jakarta - Singapore.

Another thing to add, ping will and always depend on the traffics (latency might add some ms if there is a firewall / DDoS protection service against ICMP)

I actually did find some hosting company that have ~190 ms from Singapore to France. However, there is a cable fracture at the moment, so the traffic is being re-routed via the US.

May I know what is their ASN?
Did you notice the same hop with our ID location?

24482 (currently a cable cut, so re-routed via US) and 135027 are the ones that I'm able to find.

I got the point now. https://www.peeringdb.com/asn/24482

HOST.SG is one of the most famous provider in SG (the oldest ISP) from my point of view.
He has lots of peers to EU, on which basically most SG providers peers with APAC (like HK, JP, etc.). Even Leaseweb whose parent's company is in Europe, do not do this (peers with EU).

I saw what you are seeking for a host that have "direct peer" with FRANCE-IX. So here is the list https://www.peeringdb.com/ix/359 you can find (i'm researching for you ;)):

    • SG GS only has 100M connection to FR-IX, no wonder if it become saturated then they rerouted the traffic. He is the only one in SG.
    • As you can see there is no SG ASN (other than SG GS) that has direct peers with FR-IX left
    • But there is one HK provider, best of luck if you can find them, with this ASN 9304 that has what you need. I bet with this one you'll get less than 180

Wishing you the best success towards the journey

SG GS has a PoP in the UK, they use that as their main connection to Europe, it's 10 Gbps.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the research! Have a nice day.

If they have a POP in UK then it might be good for you as they will reroute the traffics to UK instead of US. Another thing, POP is totally different with peerings.

    @Pilovali you're most welcome
