Got this gem in my inbox today...

Never heard about them, nor I had any service from them, nor I had that service name, or...

Who the hell are they?

What kind of service is that anyways if you know? It says "Dedicated IP: Not Required!"

    Thanked by 1MikePT
  • Had you any service with one of these providers acquired by them?

Seems legit..their "secure" subdomain doesn't have HTTPS lol

  • So you are not the owner of miguel.com? ;)

Uhm, actually that's plain WHMCS. Anyone who used it knows how their https redirection works. The sensitive parts are with forced ssl, other places - not. They have an EV certificate: https://secure.spiralhosting.com/cart.php

Yeah.. But why would they send me an invoice... :P

Edit: For a service back in 2012..?

  • I've had a provider or two do this in the past. I can't recall a specific company but I know one of the instances was due to the company being quietly sold/traded/gobbled up by another company

OK I can accept that, but sending me an invoice from 2012, which I don't even recall... Humm.

  • Happens during merge, Cron sometimes sent invoices on first cron run after merge depend on WHMCS settings and reminder settings, We bought so far 1 company invoice was sent from 2 years back :) simply they should cancel the Invoice or ignore

I recovered my password there and asked them why the hell they were invoicing me, the invoice no longer exists though :P

    This way also works :)

  • It does appear it was due to the merge of SpeedySparrow. I previously had service with SpeedySparrow in 2011-2012 and received about 5 invoices today.

    Makes sense, thank you :)

No idea but I think it would be a damn great shower...

  • @MrGeneral said:

I'd guess that word 'Shower' simply to be something lost in translation or a placeholder after all.

maybe it is/was more than one change in business owner before it went from SpeedySparrow to Spiralhosting.

miguel.com most probably simply was the thing elCheapo entered back then as the usualy requested hostname while registering for whatever service ;-)

    Very likely!

They've responded back in a professional manner. They indeed consolidated both databases and it was just a misunderstanding.

But then at least don't make the subdomain "secure"..just makes it seem cheesy.

Also, AFAIK, you can make WHMCS' home-page redirect to HTTPS (I saw the setting somewhere in the system config on WHMCS 7)
