Aruba Cloud VM hangs on reboot after guest CentOS 6 kernel update

I have a Smart plan VM with Aruba Cloud.

Today I updated my system via yum. The kernel was updated to the version 2.6.32-642.4.2.el6.x86_64. I restarted the VM only to discover that the machine won't boot with that kernel.

So I had to connect to Remote Console and there I see the following messages.

sda assuming drive cache write through
sda assuming drive cache write through
sda assuming drive cache write through

And the system hangs not responding to keyboard button presses.

For the time being will downgrade the kernel to the version 2.6.32-642.3.1.el6.x86_64 until the issue is fixed.

I googled a number of articles on internet, to no avail.

I've opened a ticket with the support team already, so this post is just a heads-up to you dudes.

EDIT: Got the following response from Aruba and they closed the ticket.

Dear Customer,

Arubacloud staff does not provide system management support and no intervention will be made.
We suggest to examine the system status using the recovery console as described on http://kb.arubacloud.com/en/computing/recovery-console/connecting-and-using-the-recovery-console.aspx
If the server is no longer working and you can not recover it, you can consider a complete restore, please see http://kb.arubacloud.com/en/computing/managing-a-cloud-server/initialize-a-cloud-server-smart-restore-to-original-conditions.aspx
We are at your disposal for further information
