Exotic vps providers. Any experience?!

Hello,

Found some exotics vps providers after searching on google. Is it worth to start using them at all? Or should choose the big companies products as before and the case is closed?

How about those exotic vps, hosting providers at all? Any experience on "uknown" providers? Still, my be such providers have any advantage?

  • Exotic providers? State some that you are thinking of and the members here would probably be able to tell you something about them.

I don't usually like exotic locations as the network connectivity is pretty limited usually.

I think by definition, no one has experience with unknown providers.

I don't think that exotic providers are any different than other ones. I'd want to see some reviews and check the company out before I'd gamble dollars (whether American or Zimbabwean in this case).

Personally, I'd have to have a specific need before I'd sign up with someone in Papua New Guinea or Kyrgyzstan. Most people will be happier with a well-known provider in the nearest major networking center. I'd only consider something off the beaten path if I had very specific network, marketing, or legal requirements.

'Exotic providers' - what do you define as exotic? Normally you would need to work with enterprise companies.

We are able to provide virtual servers in Vladivostok (Russian Far East - port city), Siberia or Korea. I think that may be rare enough for the hosting market. You normally won't find elsewhere.

Otherwise, are you looking for more obscure locations like islands or CIS countries? Perhaps I could provide some suggestions.

  • Ok ok, i got your point, guys. I have to mention any exact one to get an exact opinion...
Still, do not talk about such exotic locations as Papua New Guinea or Kyrgyzstan. For me it is exotic. How about some Europe country...
OK - example. I have an eye on this provider - https://lavavps.lt.
P.S. I use google translate to read non english websites https://goo.gl/Pv7Bxf

Yes, i understand what You mean. Still, not everything depends on location. Some good providers have some rear locations and on some cases it is an advantage. But my question is not about rear location but less known companies as VPS providers.

Sorry, I have no experience with Lithuanian providers. However, hosting there is readily available. http://bgp.he.net/country/LT --> It is easy to search for ISPs in Lithuania and check if they provide virtual server solutions.

The server will still be connected to dominant telecoms/players in LT, so I really don't see a difference. (mainly like TEO, ReTN, Baltnet, Lattelecom)

Bordering Lithuania is Kaliningrad - uncommon location.

but less known companies as VPS providers.

In this case, the service level and quality will be unpredictable, unless you are protected by a SLA or contract.

  • Why take a chance? The LE market is extremely saturated, and the ones that provide good service for what they do are already known. A lot of times people complain about having issues with UnknownHost and I have to wonder why they didn't just go with HostUS, RamNode, Digital Ocean, etc. You'll save yourself a lot of potential headache that way.

Thank you for your clear opinion. I appreciate it.

    It sounds logical... Thank you!
