Temporary Non-Kimsufi Provider and Sale Restrictions

edited July 2016 in Announcements

Hi all,

In light of our transition to KimsufiTalk, we would like to announce that heavy restrictions on new non-Kimsufi provider applications are being put into place, with immediate effect.

This is to protect the LET community and it's visitors.

We understand this may be an inconvenience for new providers, but if you're not Kimsufi you're not awesome enough. Sorry.

We want to take this time to also remind members to be cautious when dealing with new providers because they are not Kimsufi. Do not let their low prices deceive you. As always, if you have any concerns please let us know using the helpdesk, unless you have a concern about Kimsufi, in which case you can just bug off.

We would prefer not to reveal the methods of vetting that will be taking place but we can share the first test:

if [ -n "`grep -i kimsufi $provider_name`" ] ; then
  exit ${FAIL_NOT_KIMSUFI}
fi

Applications will be handled on a case by case basis, with no preconceived methods, except that if you're not Kimsufi we will bounce you like fabric softener.

If you would like to apply for a provider tag or have any questions / concerns, you can do so at the helpdesk as long as you are Kimsufi.

Thank you for your understanding!

You didn't do it properly. If you're using a reverse proxy back to LET, you have to proxy to "https://23.94.100.100" :)

    Just did it myself: https://let.dawgy.pw

WOW - that was fast. Someone DDoS'ed my reverse proxy.

Was it on CF or did you just turn it on?

Just turned it on, someone DDoS'ed the IP a few minutes after posting :(

I powered down the VPS - will wait a bit before turning it back on.

If I am a non-Kimsufi provider using Kimsufi templates for VPS (Kimsufi version of Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, etc.) am I allowed to apply?

  • RadiRadi Host Rep, Veteran

@default You will need to proove that to us.

No we would send you a DMCA for using our templates without our prior permission.

I would agree to pay that 2 eur, but only for Kimsufi Ubuntu templates as per Canonical trademark new requirements.

I must mention I did not modify Kimsufi templates, so I should not pay OVH anything because I do not violate their trademark, I only break Canonical trademark for using modified version of Ubuntu (Kimsufi Ubuntu, instead of default Ubuntu), so I agree with that 2 EUR to Canonical for every customer using only Kimsufi Ubuntu template.

May I become a legit Kimsufi provider on such terms?

I take this occasion to thank you guys for that Kimsufi Ubuntu. It's so much better and so much stable than default Ubuntu template. It simply works. Thank you to all staff, thank you!
