Looking for reasonable priced Windows dedicated server with good i7 CPU & 16GB ram

I'm looking to rent a dedicated server with a good i7 CPU (similiar or better perfomance than i7 2600). I also need the minimum specs of 16GB ram and 3TB (preferebly more or unlimited) data transfer per month. I can't work with Linux, my software only works with Windows, so I also require a Windows license, either Windows 7 or Windows Server 2012. Location doesn't matter too much, but it'd be nice if the server was located inside Europe. Lastly I obviously don't want downtime or problems with my server, I'm looking for 99% uptime. If something goes wrong with the server/network, I expect that it's fixed (after I've reported the issue) within 24 hours.

I'm looking to get this for cheaper than $100 per month. I've looked for this service for a few days now without finding any good option. I was planning to go with OVH, but for some reason I can't use my old verified account with them, so it seems like I have to re-verify myself with a new account, which I don't have time for. I also considered to order the server from webtropia, but their registration wouldn't allow my Swedish ZIP code, so I couldn't place the order from them.

In the future I'll be looking to get 20+ more servers just like this monthly. So I'm looking for a good and reliable provider.

Can anyone recommend me any service like this? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions I can get :)

    Check OVH or Hetzner Auctions

  • I can't order from OVH without re-verifying me, which takes like one week for them and Hetzner has a huge setup fee, looking for >$100/month initially

    Ah nevermind, seems like Hetzner Auctions isn't the same thing as ordering from their main website. Seems risky though as it's a gamble to what OS you receive and some computer parts might not function good. I'd rather just buy the server directly from a company so I can choose OS etc myself, I wouldn't want to randomly get Linux on the server and be unable to switch to Windows.

    You can choose the OS you want to install yourself. The servers function just normal, and if there is an issue they'll replace it.

    I suppose you are good with a variety of CPUs? Not just i7? Xeon E3s for example?

    Thanks for the mention @Junkless.

    @PloxCake If a new E3-1240v5 works for you then our offers in the UK may be of interest - https://quadhost.net/dedicated-server/un-managed/ pricing starts from £38/m.

    All servers have n+1 redundant power and dual diverse network uplinks, we also allow full customisation of each box with SSD/HDD's/RAID and adjustable hardware. Network can be tested at http://lg-ldn-uk.quadhost.net

    If you do need a i7 rather than a Xeon we would be more than happy to work a custom price/quote out for you - feel free to open a sales enquiry via our site.

    @cassa
    I see, intresting. Then this might very well be an option, thanks for the information :)

    @randvegeta
    I assume that I can work with E3's, seems like they perform as good as i7's

    @quadhost
    Very intresting. However, when I click the "View & customize" button and get redirected to the dedicated server options, I'm just able to choose between two alternatives, and the cheapest alternative is £75 monthly? I tried to register on your website to see if that unlocked more options, but apparently I can't register. The registration error says that my swedish numbers are "invalid", even though I've written in them correct with country code and everything.

    Yes, the choice between 4/8 bay chassis has to be made before all the configuration options display. The voucher code listed on the main page drops the price further.

    Feel free to PM or email your number or details to sales [a]t quadhost.net and I can get to the bottom of it for you.

  • @quadhost
    I appreciate the offer but it ends up being too expensive for me from your company, with Windows OS to the server it ends up costing minimum £88 ($125) monthly, overriding my $100 budget. I'm looking for a bit cheaper option.

    Thanked by 1quadhost
  • Hetzner Auctions intrest me, but doesn't seem like they give the option to install Windows from their Rescue System, so that looks like a dead end

    If Lithuania is okay for you, we may be able to meet your requirements if you are flexible with hardware.

    We often have various i7 and E3s of differing models. If you don't need all to be exactly the same, and are happy with quad core hyper threaded CPUs with 16GB RAM and standard HDDs, then we can support you!

    Example spec:

    i7-2600
    16GB RAM
    500GB HDD
    1 IPv4 Address
    1Gbit Port
    3TB Data Transfer
    Lithuania Location
    US$80 /month should be possible.

    However I cannot guarantee availability of this model all the time. Other models would be more expensive but still should be within your budget. For example we can do Xeon E3 CPUs with otherwise the same spec for US$100 or less depending on E3 model.

    If you are interested, please feel free to PM me.

    Try reliableservers (seewhatididthere?)

    The have a promo going : $69/mo i7-6700K, 16GB Ram and an SSD, 30TB traffic/mo

    I assume you are looking for high clock cpu on windows to do some sort of encoding, this is probably the best bang for buck you can get in regards to CPU clock.

    Their promo on WHT

    EDIT: Their servers come with IPMI so you can install windows yourself remotely and enter your own license on the off-chance they dont offer windows as an add-on

    I think Hetzner is the best option for you. Install Windows is easy via LARA. My i7 3770 is running Windows without any issue. It costs only 23EUR/Month, cheapest server ever

    @randvegeta
    Intresting. Can I get Windows with the server? Also, do you have a website?

    @Zappie
    Very intresting. I sent them an email regarding some questions, thanks for the tip :D

    @supick
    I'm assuming that you don't pay for a Windows OS license cost if you pay 23EUR/month. How do you get Windows for free? I read hetzner's wiki about LARA and using their Windows mirrors it seems like you need to activate the OS with an self-owned license key. Also seems like you can install custom OS ISO's, but that seems much more complicated.

    If I rent a server from Hetzner Auctions, instead of using LARA, can I just use Hetzner's Robot add-ons to install Windows Server 2012 for the Robot to install the OS smoothly and automatically? I don't mind if I have to pay the license, aslong it works without problems I'm happy. If so, this seems like the way to go.

    Sorry for all these questions btw and I appreciate all the help, the last server I rented was basically useless to me, wasting ~$50 in the process. I don't want that to happen again as I'm on a slim budget :P

    Hi @PloxCake,

    Well we normally don't sell dedicated servers, we are in the VPS biz.

    http://www.vpsbit.com

    Our company is actually based in Hong Kong but we are venturing into the EU market so we have a small wholly owned data centre in Lithuania. We have a few hundred servers in HK and many of these are i7s and E3s. Since we like to keep our product range in HK current, we end up shipping a lot of the slightly older (Broadwell/Haswell) generation servers to Lithuania, and our desktop grade (i7s) tend to become free VPS nodes, with the Xeons becoming paid VPS nodes.

    And yes we can provide you with Windows Server 2012 R2. Technically we can give you any version but Windows 7/8/10 are not supposed to be used in a server environment (breaks the license agreement) but that's really up to you if you want to do that.

    If you're interested, PM me. I can give you a test VPS to check network. We have a DDoS protected network in case you need that too.

    @PloxCake: I have my own license.
    You can order Windows 2012 with 21eur/month.
    Hetzner offers 2 week trial without charging, so you should try :D

  • As I know you wont be able to get an Windows7 license for Server. As they are only for personal PCs. Not sure if Datacenters can sell those licenses.

  • lootloot Member

    Hetzner will do the install of your Windows for free anyway, and they'll do at least one free re-install if your server goes down while you're configuring stuff and can't get back in.

  • We can do this for you. Contact us via live chat at http://hostingspecialists.co.uk

    webtropia plz no, same as MyLoc and eh.

    Go with Hetzner if you expect Good Support and No DDos.

    If you expect DDOS go with OVH, but the Support got mixed reviews.
