Hello, need a little help here. I'm looking for providers that offer VPS's with IPv6/rDNS. :)

If you know about some, please share.

Thank you.

With Prometeus you need to raise a ticket for IPv6, IPv4 is working in Solus.

  • v6 RDNS on request in Austria.

  • Thanks, Prometeus does not offer rDNS on IPv6 last time I checked.

  • http://www.QHoster.com we offer IPv6 and manual RDNS for IPv6 only in Germany.

I don't know when you checked, but now it does, however, it is not automatic AFAIK, only IPv4 is.

  • Now that SolusVM finally implemented the rdns6 in their panel i guess most providers should be able to offer it.

  • Our US has IPv6 + rDNS Support coming this week

UK in timeline in a few weeks.

Will have to be manually though

rDNS via ticket SUCKS, dear hosts please don't be lazy, either plug it into Solus or provide reverse zone delegation to the customer's NSes for their subnet. (and you do provide a subnet, right?)

The only host I know that gives a subnet(/64) AND a reverse delegation for it, is Evorack.
(edit: oh, and OVH for the Kimsufi dedi)

They give you a /112 with rDNS settings on the control panel.

  • @Jack said: You need a /24 on IPv4 for delegation some providers who rent might get a /26 here , /27 there so don't actually have a FULL /24.

We talk about IPv6 here. Not v4.

@Jack Well, as I said "rDNS via ticket sucks" (in general), and you have explained the reason why it isn't automated by so many providers on IPv4. So not entirely off-topic. :)

P.S.: While we on the topic of 'sucking', what drives me insane is providers not removing your custom rDNS on cancellation of the service, so some random new customer gets an IP with the old rDNS still on it (how would you feel as that new customer? -- besides, what would they host on there with your rDNS, what if childporn/spam/gambling?), and you need to file ANOTHER ticket to remind the provider to remove that.

Just waiting on the data center for ipv6 support

On my OpenVZ Prometeus I can do it without ticket, for Xen and KVM a ticket is needed though.

    ProviderService -> ticket and only 1 IPv6

  • @emilv We can offer IPv6 + rDNS NOT via our custom control panel atm but via live chat or by opening at ticket, if you are interested in a VPS in Europe, Germany.

We have scheduled that to be an option on our panel in November.

Providers that set it for you or providers who'll delegate a subnet?

I hate doing rDNS via ticket and I wish there was a way around it but since we get our IPv6 from our DC we are at the mercy of their DNS control panel. Personally I don't understand why IPv6 is double the cost of IPv4. :(

I think any, he just needs rDNS for IPv6, probably doesnt mind the method used.

OMG !!! You are charged DOUBLE for an IPv6 than one v4 ???

We delegate /48s in Austria, with DNS, on request :)

Ipv6 remember me when I transitioned to tcp/ip. It required a few iteration and deployments to find acceptable solutions both on the technical and management sides.
In the next months everything not directly tied to the solusvm "limits " will be rationalized and some choice rethinked.

Btw on every kvm vps we can route a /48 and delegate nameservers if required, but a registration on the ripe db will be required :-)
    File a ticket if interested.

The smallest allocation for IPv6 from ARIN is $2500/year, a /20 of IPv4 from ARIN is $1250/year. We can't justify the cost of getting our own IPv6 allocation when we can get it free from our data center, the downside is we need to use their DNS control panel for IPv6 rDNS which isn't a big deal. Most clients open a ticket and we'll add the rDNS record that same day.

  • 6sync ^^

one /64 per customer and rdns-support for v4 and v6 in biscuit (their control panel) :3

  • BuyVM allow you to set your own rDNS yourself and they come with IPv6 IPs :)

  • LFCVPS give 10 ipv6 addresses w/ automated rdns through their custom coded interface in WHMCS

I'm guessing because you'll never need to buy more? Pure speculation here.

    Yep, we do.
