well Fransisco tried to help me to setup DDOS protection to my vps but seems they not supporting GRE and dont plan to in the moment maybe in the future.. sorry for the taking your time mate..
well so im looking for large VPS or Dedi with DDOS protection.OVH and online.net
both of them saying they provide DDOS protection.. i reading about ovh ddos protection some say its totally crap some say they been attack of 40gb/sec and server stand for it.
same with online.net.
hetzner not providing any offer about DDOS protection...
so its kind of problem for me.
my websites been attack by booter stress. few time in a week few hours due the day. some days attack can be 10 minutes some of them are 3 4 hours long.
they small-mid size attacks. between 100 mb/sec - 30gb/sec (was one time and last for 1 minute)
most of them are 100 mb/sec - 10/15 gb/sec.
so how their DDOS protection any reviews ? i know they customer support is shit.
just the protection and benchmarks ? P.S europe location

  • Online.net is pretty terrible. They require that you cancel the server by the 20th, and if you cancel on the 21st they will still generate an invoice for the next full month even though the server is terminated.

My server was cancelled and terminated on 9/25 and they are charging me for services from 10/1 to 11/1 as it was cancelled on the 25th, not the 20th. They are also threatening to send a bill collector for the $7 I apparently owe them. I'd be glad to pay for a service that I have access to, but the server was sorta terminated on 9/25...

    Stay far away from them.

That sounds wrong. If terminated it will come into effect on the end of the next billing date. In this case 1st of November.

Contact support or come in the #Online-EN channel on Evolu.NET and ping a member of staff.

OVH, I've been with them for years and never encountered any issue.
It's an unmanaged service so don't expect any kind of support, except hardware one of course.

For latency, online better than OVH (to Asia:Indonesia)

I try both before and end up with online limited server

Your server couldn't be terminated on 9/25. It should be terminated on 31/10

Their terms do clearly lay out the cancellation requirements. You had to have agreed to the terms when you signed up for service, so you really can't blame Online if you chose not to read them.

Also, like @IThinkUFailed said, they don't terminate the service right away when you cancel. I would bet you still have access without realizing it.

Anyways to answer the OP: OVH's DDoS protection is much better than Online's. No question there. Online's better in some ways, but not that one.

I would agree. While the network is smaller I find the staff care more about it and more about their customers.

But it is getting worse and worse. OVH doesn't seem to care much anymore, e.g. any TCP ACK flood will take a OVH server down, any public booter can do this.
I still don't know why they don't offer the option to enable their game DDoS-protection with any product, it's a lot better when it comes to these kind of floods.

I found online.net's support pretty quick with only a kidechire active, but I'm still waiting for my t-shirt so I can finally sell pony porn. @benonline

Where are you hosting https://high-minded.net/threads/cheat-provider-blacklist.35318/? Nice design.

Did you get your business sorted with http://onapp.com/sellers/detail/seflow?

  • Now comes the irony: I host at OVH.
But: I'm not reying on their DDoS-protection, I have CloudFlare in front and a pretty nice setup for custom layer7 filtering.

They have nearly no network outages and that's why I host there. I'm considering a move in the near future though as I don't want to have an outage because of a failing HDD or failing server that would take days to fix for them. That's my main concern with them.

according to librenms, my kidechire has 27d 4h 49m 31s uptime.

How much ddos does your forum get?

I can't image any reason to be so preventive ddos wise like you are without a reason(I mean you must get some angry people for some reason), but when we kids played cs 1.6 back in the day, our way of eliminating our frustration was to go to a weekend party, learn or play more cs.

What's bizcn as a registrar like? Is it better than namesilo?

@lolfust1 let me drop your host a message and see if I can sweet talk him into adding GRE for you.

EDIT - Done. Lets see if he'll do it.

That would get very specific, it's a solution with different profiles based on how much traffic flows through and how many IPs access the site etc.

Oh, we get attacked frequently, you attract a lot of kids with such a site and since they all have their fancy booters you have to be prepared.

They don't care much about what you host and who you are and their Skype support is pretty good. That's why I like them. I would be fine with namesilo or namecheap but I don't want to have important domains at a US registrar, I don't want something random to happen if somebody sends abuse.

You order on bizcn.com or on cnobin.com?

There are WAY higher chances to lose your domains at BizCN in the long term than you do at Namecheap/NameSilo. Except if you host unlawful content...

  • Hi.

Layer 7 ddos protection is not just "ddos-protected server". It requires you to have software-based protection. May offer you a hosted solution or proxing.

Having just dumped Online.net for OVH - I think my 2p's worth is that OVH's network kicks Online.net's ass while support time is the other way round.

So, online.net is terrible because they have a TOS and AUP that clearly says when to cancel a server to not get charged, but you do not like their rules that was clear to you prior your initial payment and you suggest people to stay away because of that?

comXyz said: Your server couldn't be terminated on 9/25. It should be terminated on 31/10

Online.net has an option when cancel servers, that asking to cancel immediately or at the end of the billing period. He probably pressed the first option, so, even if it was paid, his service was terminated.
I have a very good experience with online.net.

  • i was asking about nodes and ddos protection :O

  • @francisco dont know what you told them but they consider your request ! lets see if the apply

I used please and thank you, and explained how to enable GRE. Also explained that it didn't cause any security or stability issues either. :)

    Here's hoping.
