I run a website with few hundred visitors a day... Server uptime is at 120 days now.. which was the day I put it online. And I never got any notification from uptime robot that the site is down.

Yes, (not to host customers but for distributed server monitoring, etc).
155+ days on one; 52+on another.

I have no complaints at all; running solid since I last booted, never had a reboot otherwise. Running encrypted filesystem w/ Debian 7.

Edit: Wish they had consoles, but at this pricepoint just can't complain. Once busybox/dropbear is setup to remotely enter passphrase, no problems.

    Gone, dang.

  • Is the "guaranteed bandwidth" still 100 Mbps? It's not written.

I don't think you're fitting enough swearing into your posts. Surely you can get a bit more in there?

    Most of the people in this thread: I didn't get one :( :( :( :( :( :(

I'll rent any of mine out for $50/month. You only get a user account but you'll be the only user.

    So let's go!

  • So a q about the ftp space (100gb):
    1. Anyone had data loss with online's ftp space?
    2. I know about the 100gb/1000 files limits, is it possible to use this over ftps? Owncloud says it can mount it via ftps, but it doesn't show any files when you go to the folder in oc browser mode.
    3. Winscp doesn't work either with encryption, only without.
    4. I've read each dedibox comes with 100gb storage, nice way to stack up back up space.

Seems like ovh also has 500gb for its dedicated servers https://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/backup-ftp.xml

Meanwhile people aren't hoarding the Scaleway brand. Enjoy trying to resell this thing with that being offered from the same people ;)

Interesting. Have you been able to find a way to use FDE with them or do you store the system unencrypted and log in via ssh to be able to open the encrypted container where the files are stored?

If you've been able to run a FDE setup, would you mind sharing how that works?

    Thanks!

Anyway, nice to see that online is offering these little boxes again, that let know to those who have too many kidechire idling that they can stop renewing them and online will give'em to someone who might need or at least use them :)

How is this possible... 23 power on hours with 3261168 errors.... Maybe because it's a SSHD?

  • @black these errors don't mean real errors, it's just some raw value that smartctl doesn't know how to decode.

  • old hard drives are good right? Not only do several studies say (google? some backup company thingy?) that they fail much less often, it is also my personal experience..

  • rds100 said: @black these errors don't mean real errors, it's just some raw value that smartctl doesn't know how to decode.

Thanks for the info. How do you tell if a hard drive is failing if you're not looking at the raw values?

If linux switches to read-only :D

  • Nice!

Glad to see that more people should've been able to grab these :)
