it is part of your RAM, it will not be saved if rebooted
it is a ram disk that is created to use for fast temporary storage. Anything written to it will use physical memory to be stored. Many people use the volume for doing things like selects and joins for MySQL to have better performance. As @netomx said tho, anything written here will be lost when restarting the server as the memory is emptied on shutdown, so only store TEMPORARY files in this location.
