Found this on WHT
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1191200
and it has pretty good ping from my side of Europe but I have never heard of the company rackd.net before.

Do any of you have any experience with them?

  • Hmm interesting. I tried talking to them on live chat and they were very slow to respond. Also they are refusing to tell me which DC their servers are located in which is kind of suspicious...

  • Looks like they just resell http://www.serverstadium.com/

  • @Spencer said: Looks like they just resell http://www.serverstadium.com/

    How do you know?

  • I should setup a site like that as well and do some light marketing, seems like free money to me.

  • Yeah sounds like ServerStadium. Exactly the same machines/bandwidth etc and pricing that's a few dollars above the wholesale price. Also provide very generic/no information via Live Chat

  • I would really like to know how you guys can tell if this is serverstadium.

  • @liam Not what their staff are saying, this is from the live chat:

    "Arun says:
Welcome to Live Help, how are you today?
    John Richardson says:
    Hello, I'm good thanks
    John Richardson says:
I was looking at your WHT dedicated server offer
    John Richardson says:
I'd like to ask a few questions
    John Richardson says:
    Which datacentre is it in?
    Arun says:
    Our datacenter is at Seattle.
    John Richardson says:
    Which datacenter exactly?
    Arun says:
Please contact our sales department to know more about this,
    John Richardson says:
    ok"

  • @Taz_NinjaHawk Same specs and bandwidth etc as Server Stadium. Same location; very limited info given by their staff about the DC. Just seems that they're either reselling or really don't train their Live Chat team too well

  • Outsourced maybe?

  • @Taz_NinjaHawk possibly, but I'm just confused as to where the server is located now...

  • @liam ah thought so. So chances are that it is a ServerStadium reseller then

  • mikhomikho Member, Host Rep

traceroute to their test IP : 74.112.207.250 goes via commercialmedia.com

  • @jkr1711 Yep. Server stadium,

Looked at the total ip section 12 maximum :P
And they are most likely reselling FDC as well :D

  • After looking at RackD, I will be switching to Hostbill. Any day soon.

after reading the comments here, how you mention serverstadium... it almost feels like its mentioned with disgust? Am I getting the wrong feeling or is there something specific about them?

  • @Taz_Ninja Yeah looks amazing, but the only thing is getting my staff used to a new interface. Give me a few months and I'll probably be using it too

@MikHo personally not used ServerStadium however I presume as a reseller of services then tickets for things such as physical reboots/os reloads etc would take longer? Also after talking to their (potentially outsourced) live chat team, I have a feeling that (no offence to them) they know very little about what they're doing. Best thing to do in my opinion is to go direct to a company that owns their own hardware

  • @jkr1711 I beleive serverstadium owns and mnages those servers. ( Owner most likely arabic our sout asian per their WHT user name). Don't you get ipmi though?

  • @jkr1711 said: Yeah looks amazing, but the only thing is getting my staff used to a new interface. Give me a few months and I'll probably be using it too

That ordering template looks out of the world. Now I need find a way to migrate things.

  • Good morning :),

Just to clear some things up,

That offer is for our new location which is in Baltimore in the Commercial Media datacenter as the IP we provided will confirm, and any servers that are setup with this new promotion are located here,

As for our Seattle setup, we have our own switching and power gear, reboots are handled by the client in their portal (Done by APC), not via ticket. OS Reloads are handled by our internal PXE and bandwidth graphs are also shown by our portal.

We indeed use the same datacenter as the main Wowrack Products (Serverstadium included) for Seattle.

As for my location, I am Australian and our Business is registered in Australia. Our Managment is in Australia, with support staff from various locations around the world.

If you have any questions I'll be more than happy to answer them and your comments about live chat have been escalated to our Support Managment.

    Thanks,
    Nic

  • @doctorcloud so are you saying that you do not resell serverstedium?

  • Serverstadium is SCnet, and they're huuuuuge. Nothing wrong with reselling them -3-

  • The theme they've used for the site:
    http://themeforest.net/item/rackhost-hosting-business-theme/2390680?WT.ac=search_thumb&WT.seg_1=search_thumb&WT.z_author=Serifly

And they are using http://bytecp.com/ - ByteCP from the people who make Hostbill.

And their live chat is http://livehelp.stardevelop.com/ - yuck (and expensive)

The domain was registered in May 2012

The reason why I am bringing all of this up is because it looks like everything was put together in a hurry to make a quick buck. When you're also doing web design and sites for others you develop an eye for these things. They're even using the WP theme's logo.

I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. If they are only reselling to resellers (server arena), well, then some of you and even us may qualify. Just my 2 cents.

Seen so many people use this one including quite a few LEB providers.

Yes, I've heard of them and know Nic personally myself.
I can assure you that Nic is providing a great service here.
Just to clear it up he owns all of his hardware.

Have you actually read the whole thread before posting this? No offense, but it just seems like you jumped to conclusion quite quickly without reading the whole thing.

    Firstly,
I see nothing wrong with hosts using that theme, it's a great theme and many reputable hosts use it as well. So not problem there.

    Second,
Not sure what you're on about ByteCP, that's a shared hosting panel...(And they're using Hostbill for billing).

    Third,
Ugh, so it's a crap live chat(in your opinion) and expensive, but what's that gotta do with the provider's credibility. As you've mentioned, it's expensive, so wouldn't that be a good thing? A company that's willing to fork out cash for good support/livechat system.

    Fourth,
They're registered in Australia as "Dr Cloud" as mentioned previously, and here's proof: http://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx?abn=92150259644
I doubt someone would go through the trouble of doing all the above + registering an actual business just to "make a quick buck" as you put it.

    Lastly,
Not sure what you're talking about regarding the reselling to resellers part, as I don't see that stated anywhere.

Nothing against you, just trying to prevent a host being judged too quickly. Just my 2 cents on your 2 cents.

  • @Taz_Ninjahawk,

What I'm saying is we have a very good relationship with our providers and we use this partnership to build our product line and better our infrastructure. While many would class us as resellers, we are not, considering the fact we are maintaining our own Switching Gear, Power Gear, Provisioning, provide end user support, monitor and upgrade our infrastructure..

While I do thank Nick for his input we do indeed rent parts of our infrastructure in order to expand, add and upgrade our services. It allows us to deploy new switch gear, upgrade our TOR network and what not with relative ease,

For instance, we are rolling out IPv6 and our new Gbit network which will provide public and private Gbit ports aswell as a private management network which could only be achieved by the use of this agreement and buying equipment outside of this agreements scope. So your free to make your own mind up here,

    @vpsnodebox,

"And they are using http://bytecp.com/ - ByteCP from the people who make Hostbill."
We are not using ByteCP, not sure where you pulled that from?

"The domain was registered in May 2012"
Indeed it was, but our business has been around since April of 2011.

    @FTN_Nick,
    Thanks :)

    Thanks,
    Nic
