Why don't you Google it yourself? It's flat 7$.

  • Hello

    @Jack said: What's that in $?

When I last checked xe.com it was around the $7 mark.

  • @liam said: Not surprised ;-)

It surprised me, I expected a week, but less than 48 hours ? lol.

  • I really like your logo.

  • Cheers, Corey :)

  • All is fine, except the network with this DC...
    Because.... Cogent here: http://bgp.he.net/AS39451.
    Some proof:
    http://check-host.net/check-report/1759bc?lang=en

Tried to repeat this test several times, always getting packet losses for this IP...

  • Interesting. Never seen that place before, everywhere else we've ever checked has been perfectly fine.

Anyway DC which has Cogent as their main carrier can't be so 'perfectly fine' as you call this, sorry.
May be cheaper for you, but not 'perfectly fine' for us.
Also don't like this type of answers from providers, which looks like:
"all is well and you're all idiots" :)
    Not the best marketing practice.

    Hello Inglar,

I apologise if any comments from miniVPS have come across as "all is well and you're all idiots" that is not something we have intended to do.

I have done some extensive tests on our network this morning, you are right, some parts of the world have some packet loss to the IP 46.20.235.10, however, when testing other IP's on other servers there is zero packet loss, for example 46.20.235.7 (I have used the same site as you posted above (http://check-host.net/check-ping?host=46.20.235.7).

I'll be taking a look at server .10 today to identify the issue with the server, but I do appreciate you bringing the issue up, without constant feedback from people like you and our clients we are not able to improve our services to a level that is acceptable by the majority.

I understand that cogent is not liked by all, just like some people don't favour miniVPS, while we try and do the best we can, I don't think that miniVPS (like any other company) can make 100% of people happy 100% of the time, but that doesn't mean we won't try.

    Kind regards

Hello Inglar. I think you've taken my comment the wrong way. I wasn't for a second suggesting you're all idiots or that we're perpetually correct and you're wrong. I was genuinely showing my surprise at your results as we've never seen it before however after a little investigation I can see where the problem is.

The IP address given as a 'test' is on a box that's tweaked with all manner of firewall rules. A quick drop of the firewall and the ping results all came back perfect. We've now updated the original post with a better IP to use for ping tests ( 46.20.235.62 ) which gives a much better and more true result :)

So, as Simon has said, it's good you brought this up because we have been able to identify a problem with the information we're releasing that customers use to check us out - thanks for that and apologies if I came across in any way demeaning. It wasn't my intention.

    Now... beer? :)

  • @mvpsSimon @MartinD

How much are extra IPs? And do you also charge VAT?

  • We charge £1/month for extra IP's (with proper justification) and we don't charge VAT at the moment.
