  • I'm using the 128 plan as ClearOS WebProxy, and having /64 ipv6. Thank's to Stylexnetworks

  • How well does this self healing auto failover functionality with auto scaling work?

+1 this. Tickets always get answered within ~10 minutes. Oh and please try their CDN service too, it's amazingly cheap!

  • @airski

Sorry it took a while to get an update on this. I had to speak to one of our engineers and this is what they told me:

They had to contact OnApp to investigate this issue and apparently they found out this is a bug on the latest OnApp version which is a bug between the OnAPP CP and Hypervisors and they informed us that they are working as fast as they can do patch this.

Are you using a cloudflare IP for testing purposes?

    This is a cloudflare ip

stylexnetwork network is not the best of the best in the world but it looks good for me

  • @bdtech

If a node goes down then the system automatically initiates automatic fail-over and starts transferring the machines to another node. In regards to your question about auto-scaling, the system will increase or decrease resources based on CPU/RAM usage (You must have enough allocated resources to do this). For example you can set in your panel that if ram usage reaches 90% for more than 5 minutes then the system will add more ram to prevent the machine from slowing down. This works best when you have more than 1 machine and you need to scale resources between both machines.

We also offer load balancing, however this will cost extra.

  • @stylexnetworks So since the system automatically initiates automatic fail-over and starts transferring the machines to another node, you never had a down time?

  • @LAKid

It usually takes 10-20 minutes to transfer the machines from one hypervisor to another. Automatic fail over doesn't prevent down times but it minimizes it. This is extremely useful in an event of hardware failure which can cause down times up to 72 hours. With automatic fail over machines get transferred to another working node with minimal down time.

    not that bad

also, if a host goes down how are you retrieving the data? also, how are you "adding more ram" without rebooting the vm?

Oops.. forgot that the domain is on CloudFlare... pinged the domain first and to post here pinged the IP

ok pinging the bluevm IP (result below)
    Now Stylex is better :)

  • Same DC as Hostigation?

  • edited September 2012

    @fly

No data is stored on our hypervisors (nodes). We use a RAID-10 SAN storage that holds the data. This way we can easily migrate machines to other hypervisors in case of a down time due to a hardware failure.

In regards to whether the machine will need a reboot or not after adding more RAM/CPU; the template has to allow resizing with out reboot. Also keep in mind if you autoscale a machine to a ram value 16x than its current value then the machine will reboot regardless of the template it is built in. We offer a variety of templates that allow resizing with out a reboot.

This is extremely convenient in terms of reliability and the purpose of this process is automation, which saves you money in the long run.

  • @bdtech

I couldn't say, I am not sure what data center they use.

  • Your AUP says you don't allow "any kind of proxy server or other traffic relaying programs", does this mean you don't allow hosting VPNs?

  • @Garrett

We allow VPN but only for legal purposes. We also recommend that you only use the VPN for personal use.

  • Just signed up for a tiny VPS. Coupon code didn't apply for some reason so opened a support ticket and it was quickly fixed.

  • Can use it as mail server? Can set the reverse DNS in control panel? Thanks.

  • @wlsiew

Yes you can as long as it is for legal purposes. In regards to reserve DNS once you sign open a support ticket and one of our engineers will assist you further.
