What do you guys think about our web site?

We wanted to ask the community what you guys think about our website: http://www.vpsnodebox.com
It is built built with WordPress and a custom designed theme (by us) that's using the Twitter Bootstrap framework at its core. We have also customized a WHMCS theme based on Twitter Bootstrap. Both our website and customer portal are responsive and work on anything from a cell phone, to a tablet to a desktop PC.
We want to read your opinions: what you like, what you dislike, what love and what you hate, what you think it's missing, what you think we could take down and what we should add. We haven't polled anyone yet, so please go right ahead.

This is a screenshot of our website:

Thank you for your consideration.

@Jack 12 months ago I looked at it like it was snake oil, 6 months ago it was so-so, but after further working with it I've found that it works. If implemented correctly it works. With CloudFlare if you advertise them, they advertise you basically. Anyway, it's a great service, and I wouldn't recommend it to our customers if it wouldn't work.

But in the first few seconds it seems, that I came to the CF site, deja vu :)

These orange clouds hypnotized me O_o

  • Hypnotizing orange clouds?

  • Seems a lot of hosts are doing the Wordpress thing tightly woven into WHMCS and such , including us for one of hosting sites. Nice Big and Bold gets the point across pretty quickly on what you offer. The only thing is the "About Us" seems really wordy or at least format up some of that large blocks of dialog / IMHO

PS. We also love CloudFlare - offer it to all of our "shared" clients.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  • @HostCheetah Thanks allot, I will put the "About Us" page on the to-do list.

And thank you for making the effort to look and express your opinion. Time is valuable for everyone :)

  • twitter bootstrap is a godsend for developers eh.

  • @NickBudi It sure is, but we're getting ready to work with Foundation as well. We have two Bootstrap themes that we want to release to Themeforest, and then we will start developing one with Foundation :)

  • Website looks good, however that Sign Up button looks a little out of place...

  • Seems way too crowded IMHO. I don't really know where to look first. But otherwise It's not bad.

Looks pretty damn awesome on the stock ICS browser.
    this is alt text <img class=" />

  • @SimpleNode Thanks allot, we will take care of it.
@Nick Thank you, that's what I've told my guys. Now I got an extra argument to remodel the front page. :)
@SimpleNode We will replace the Estro Slider with a responsive slider soon. That floating island is just a stop gap measure until we get the new slider embedded. I'm glad you like it :)

I like it. I like the way you bootstrapped the bootstrap. The bootstrap is also nice. Page 2 could use an extra bootstrap. The footer could probably use half of a bootstrap.

I swear to God I'll pistol whip the next guy who says bootstrap...

    Hey Farva...

Agreed. I think it's time for web designers to pull themselves up by the bootstraps....

We had reports about this before. It's not our servers, it's CloudFlare's reverse proxy and we are looking into it.

I think that Twitter Bootstrap will be so over-used this year that it will loose all its appeal. Oh well, the good thing is that it's not the only CSS framework out there.

  • The problem is using it to do CSS styling for you instead of using it for rapid prototyping. You can build bootstrap sites that don't look like bootstrap, but you have to at least put in the effort to style it beyond the default. If your site didn't have the default dark top bar, I wouldn't have been able to tell you it was bootstrap just looking at the front page.

  • @Soylent I would say that the top bar is one of the worst hacks that comes embedded with Bootstrap. I wrote some PHP code to dynamically change it based on one single parameter (the top bar height in pixels) in the options panel in WordPress. Another option we're considering is getting rid of it completely and writing a custom responsive CSS menu.

    Thank you for your input.

    Boilerplate <3

  • @jarland Check this out if you like Boilerplate: http://www.rootstheme.com

@fly There is way more under the hood than just bootstrap, sadly it is not visible from the outside... so yes, for now it's just... Bootstrap
