  • For the IO and Network speed is nice, but sometimes I couldn't connect to my vps, and sometimes it took soo long to have any pressed key sent to the ssh.

Didn't happen to be this morning did it? Kid thought a ddos would be fun...

  • Do you can get on their website?

This morning, 5.32AM in Indonesia, yes, it's faster than before :)
So the problem is someone using it for DDOS? :o

It's working here, have you clear your cache? Or using proxy?

  • jarjar Patron Provider, Top Host, Veteran

Yeah you got right in the middle of that, apologies. He was using us for an outbound attack and it took me a bit to get it cleaned up due to the same issue you experienced.

I cleared the cache, but it didn't help.
I don't use a proxy or the like.

If I ping catalystvps.com it can't resolve the IP. So my ISP must have a DNS error.

Is this the IP? 50.7.6.114 I found it in the web.
If I ping that IP I get a timeout.

Ryan was having issues at his work earlier, but confirmed that it worked from AT&T 3G, school's T1 (slow trash), and my home cable.

  • It's fine from here, IDN

Using Internet.bs for the dns, I wonder if that is causing issues. Website is on Incero network which is quite good.

    23.29.123.7 is the correct IP.

  • Thx for the IPs.

If I try to browse this IP: 208.67.222.222 I get a time out
This IP 23.29.123.7 gives the same error as browsing the URL: server not found.

  • I just see the whois and Catalystvps is using Internetbs DNS, and sometimes when we use Internetbs DNS ( just like my previous blog dns) it's having problem. Now I'm switched to HE, and never noticed any downtime alert from Monitoring services.

Well we got a little delayed in combining the vps brand with the regular site, but this probably accelerates that.

It's up. Apparently issues with using the registrar's dns.

  • ya, it's up now...

Anyway, thanks for sharing your tests. Obviously I'd have preferred they didn't fall in line with the heaviest abuser to date, but I'm happy to see such results during said event. You can see some of the low points of FDC's network, especially in the Atlanta Linode test. Looking forward to seeing what you think of the NC node ;)

@Jack I actually deal with a reseller because we've built up a bit of a relationship. He has some leverage to get me around some of FDC's shortcomings in terms of support and IP requests.

  • What exactly can you do with a 128MB VPS? Examples anyone?

  • jarjar Patron Provider, Top Host, Veteran

VPN, proxy, small hosting (for those who prefer control), outgoing DDOS, spamming, backups.

It's like getting paid $3 to ban people! Until I get an IP blacklisted ;)

    <3 cute 64(!) MB boxes for VPN/proxy etc. :)

  • earlearl Member

I was able to install a desktop with a browser on a 32mb VPS so yeah 128MB is a lot!!

  • @toratekdotnet said: What exactly can you do with a 128MB VPS? Examples anyone?

    [root@tiger ~]# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 115 63 51 0 1 22
    -/+ buffers/cache: 40 74
    Swap: 236 0 236

That VPS is running: pptp and openvpn, DNS resolver (in an ovz container, for VPN clients), dns host for 6 domains, file storage, irc bouncer and mysql for a MC server.
