There's are some truly exotic locations on https://www.exoticvps.com/
Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Cayman Islands, Libya, Syria.
Too bad most of those will cost you $50-100/month or more for a VPS.

Probably Tonga. Tonga Cable is offering VPS hosting there for an all things considered reasonable price: http://hosting.tongacable.net/virtualserver/

I'd place Mauritius in second place, although Mauritius has a pretty big financial services sector so it's not very surprising that there is hosting there.

While there are a lot of uncommon places with VPS hosts, such as the Caribbean islands and countries like Kyrgyzstan and Cameroon, they aren't entirely as exotic as these remote islands.

First of all, Moldova is neither remote, nor rare or expensive. It was even posted on Lowendbox. Aside from that, it's boooooooooooooring and pointless. As in, just pick Romania instead. Countless Romanian providers on ExoticVPS.

You could as well just host in Turkey, Singapore, Egypt, Australia, what's your point?

Theres a small ISP providing services in Somalia - Starting at around 90$ with 256Kbit BW (SOMTEL). Sat link - 2017 via sea+land cable to Djibouti (Somalian side is already built but the Djibouti government wants to exclusively deal with the central government in Mogadishu, which has no control over the autonomous Somaliland province which borders Djibouti and where this DC is located)

World said: $1.71 quarterly? Are you kidding?

    The site says:

    Bs 10.752,00 / trimestre

Bs. is the new name for VEF. When I check the conversion I see that USD/VEF = 0.15873

If I did that correctly, then yes, $1.71

PS: I don't really read Spanish, but it's pretty close to English for me. I could have missed something though. :)

    BIG EDIT!
I did make a mistake. The commas and periods are backwards in Spanish. So, it's not Bs 10 but Bs 10 thousand. IOW the total is $1,706.67 USD!

Oops. sorry. :( (now that's really exotic)

I think the high price has to do with high inflation and the way the government controls the currency exchange rate.

I'm still no server expert, but it seems to me that what they're charging is 10 times what you'd pay in even expensive countries. Venezuela isn't really poor (average income over 17K per capita) and they've got good internet infrastructure. There's something weird going on there.

  • 4n0nx4n0nx Member

Ole_Juul said: There's something weird going on there.

Yeh like I said its the currency thing. A while ago I read that the black market prices are about a third so that "only" makes $566 per quarter already. The actual value of the currency is probably much less. :)

Cool. There's the Greenland Connect cable which connects with Iceland and Newfoundland, so they're not left out in the cold. I also found shared hosting from iniNova, but I bet the servers are in Denmark.

  • fitvpn said: Greenland > Danish autonomous territory

I actually read and write Danish, but even then I can't find any useful information on the data centre there. I just spent the last half hour looking. lol The relevant company is Tele-Post, but I see they're listed as not being carrier neutral so I guess that's why I'm not seeing any servers for rent. The closest VPS is going to be Denmark, which is not very exotic.

Personally, a virtual server that I was able to purchase was in Azerbaijan. This can be considered 'exotic'. There are many exotic locations for hosting, but payment or availability may not be suitable.

Last I checked, Monaco Telecom did not offer VPS. I believe they do colocation, though.

  • MrX said: I believe they do colocation, though.

So, unlike some other locations, it could still happen.

Multiple ISPs in MC offer colocation - Starts at around 6000EUR/rack with 10Mbit BW and 3kW power. (Living/Business) Space is worldwide most expensive in MC.

Vatican has a small DC but does not offer any services to private/business, only church internal (Radio Vatican and the Popes website for example) - Most of these services are hosted in Rome and have VA IPs, probably due to space limits.
