Instant Chat on Linux - Skype/Yahoo/Gtalk
hi all,
I was wondering what you guys are using for instant chat on CentOS & Debian Boxes (both 64bit).
I tried installing Skype but it fails with error
skype: error while loading shared libraries: libXss.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Yahoo messenger is also pretty old.
I read pidgin works multiprotocol, yet I couldn't login to my yahoo account, nor the Gmail Chat.
Please recommend how I can use instant chat, preferably Skype, and can I use the Screen share features too ?
Thanks alot

What about Skype web chat? The client should work fine though.
On Debian, the fix should be as follows (provided you use the Debian 7.0 multiarch .deb)
GTalk doesn't officially exist anymore - Hangouts is complete proprietary. Does Microsoft even have an open protocol for Skype? Have to wonder since Microsoft Lync is now Skype for Business...
