Oneprovider Japan Review

After endless checking since i thought they are softlayer reseller
Their Japan location keeps unavailable, and yesterday i saw available japan location, yes !
bought $5 node just to find out that i can't purchase (wth?) contacted customer support they keep insisting that Japan location not available while the status is available.
Until they said that Japan location available with plan 3 ($20). Fine, upgraded my server to plan 3.

it doesn't end here !

got my server (yay)
did MTR test, and the result is awesome

1st is Oneprovider

2nd is z.com (GMO)

3rd is vps.net (will do review about this pricey server someday)

they keep blaming my ISP for the high latency, while the reverse MTR did same result
their server located in tokyo, but osaka is the gateway for incoming connecton

take a note, there's always certain +20ms ping after the connection reaches JP.
aaaand it's not softlayer anymore, might be good update for @rm_

It doesn't end here !
Trying to do server benchmark now

it runs forever !
i did't even bother to wait for it to finish anymore
and they said : "Hello sir, I just tested the network and everything appears to be normal"
completely ignoring all my reports
so basically network downtime is normal for them

Ok, now for the "normal time" benchmark

connection to local Japan get as low as 3.6 MB/s at "normal" condition, 578 KB/s to NL
their connection is just like transverse waves

after all of this they said no refund because the no refund policy for delivered servers
while all of this only can be seen after i purchased the servers

so much for 1 Gbps advertisements

Their Japan location seems on AS2519 ,not SoftLayer anymore?

  • i think so, doesn't seem any sign of softlayer left in there

    very poor network performance

    CDN Cachefly 9.62MB/s

    Atlanta, GA, US Coloat 1.81MB/s

    Dallas, TX, US Softlayer 1.55MB/s

    Seattle, WA, US Softlayer 4.27MB/s

San Jose, CA, US Softlayer 2.76MB/s

    Washington, DC, US Softlayer 2.38MB/s

    Tokyo, Japan Linode 4.26MB/s

You should ask them to enable CPU pass through on the node. You are using the QEMU processor now.

Also their main website gives me a white page.

    Arteria is pretty expensive.

    Symmetrical 1Gbps download/1Gbps (100Mbps guaranteed upload)- 315,000JPY/mo.

Honestly I don't think their support will understand what you mean.

    exactly what i thought

even at network issue they wait until their network becomes better, then do speedtest and say "everything is fine"

since i can't refund might as well as doing review per request to certain location if anyone asks

    @seilent Try this benchmark: https://k4y5.github.io/ServerBench/
that one tests Asia and Europe more, not just mostly US.

    here you go
    seilent.net/benchmark.txt

might be easier to see there

i decided to stop the onecloud benchmark as it's gonna take forever to complete

probably will do later in screen

i did z.com too as comparison there btw

  • I got test ip from them is still softlayer, how did u get the new one?

  • I got test ip from them is still softlayer, how did u get the new one?

  • yep i'm getting softlayer too at test IP

  • hm, Japan. There is NTT and they have hardware but the demand for VPS seems to low to justify costs at this time still (HK/SG are better by a bit, AU has local market even for english providers)

asked customer service to change using softlayer, seems fixed everything already
    ,will do another test soon

    update result : http://seilent.net/softlayer_onecloud.txt
    now it's awesome

seems like the Arteria line in onecloud is overloaded, considering sometimes connection drop below 1 MBps

  • I have ordered a plan 2 and I am amazed with international network results, they seem to no longer use arteria/softlayer, however other network. Here are the results:

Yeah it does look that way, I wonder why they stopped using softlayer. Guess I need to grab one and try it.
