10EUR or less dedicated server - suggestions?

edited March 2013 in Help

Hi Gals and Lads

We are preparing to our next project and I'm looking for ultra-cheap (<= 10EUR or ~13USD) dedicated servers (similar to this one http://www.online.net/fr/serveur-dedie/dedibox-sc).
Any suggestions?

Cheers
Peter

Note 1 - no OVH please :)
Note 2 - no, we don't want to use VMs instead :)

    Fixed. Thanks

  • Colo a raspberry Pi in the Netherlands :)

@rds100 - nah, raspberry Pi != dedicated, beside that we need ~100 of such servers :)

  • I doubt there are 100 different providers offering 10EUR dedicated servers. Or you don't need different?

  • OMFG, sounds like a botnet xD

    Ontopic...
    I remember this one http://www.digicube.fr/

  • Ummm yeah, $13 USD...

Can't say I've seen anything serious in that neighborhood.. One returning provider on here talking about Celerons @ $15/mo.

Raspberry Pi or other ARM devices are still the only thing that might be offered in that price range.

One provider I am aware of offering Raspberry Pi based offering out of Kansas City (Wholesale Internet's network):

    ARM Based Dedicated Servers

The arm platform is small, lightweight, and reliable. Perfect for a small PBX, website, basic web application, or a project. We are now offering ARM based dedicated servers, housed in our Kansas City facility.

    These packages includes:
    ARM Processor Based System
512 MB (Upgradeable to 1GB) of RAM
120GB of SAN Space Available via ISCSI
8GB of Flash Memory Onboard (Upgradeable to 500GB Hard Drive)
    100 Megabit Uplink
    Price: $10.00/month

  • Yes, for new hardware the 10 EUR price point would be possible only with Arm based systems for now. Or with virtualisation.
Those Atom 230 or Celeron systems you see are several years old, already done their ROI.
We will probably also start selling the current generation of Atoms (N2800) for about 10 EUR after 2-3 years, when they are old and replaced with a new generation.

    @rds100 - 3 or 4 providers would be perfect
@yomero - no, we are not building botnet
@pubcrawler - it can be ARM but I would prefer something x86/x64 based

OK, as for now we have 2 providers
    http://www.online.net/fr/serveur-dedie/dedibox-sc
    http://www.digicube.fr/rapidserveurs

  • I know a few places, but may I ask why would you need one?

  • @gbshouse said: no, we are not building botnet

    I know, j/k =)

I don't think someone else can arrange anything that cheap.

Maybe XenVZ or FitVPS can do some discount for volume?

  • @yomero i can, but after 2-3 years. No way we can sell that cheap brand new systems that we are buying with money at hand :)

  • gbshousegbshouse Member, Host Rep

@curtisg - we are build a kind of cluster but I can't disclose more right now :)

  • What kind of specs do you need for these small dedis, anyway? CPU/RAM/HDD ?

  • gbshousegbshouse Member, Host Rep

@rds100 - take a look on the link from my first post, something like this more or less

  • @rds100
I know, but you were selling boxes for $25 or sth like that, so maybe as an example, if I get 10 I can get a little discount or sth.

  • @yomero a little, yes. 50% - no :)

  • So far only the French have anything in the range. Neither of those outfits has historically great history....

It's a tough bottom price. I'd expect Atom's to be out there on specials near the range.

  • I can vouch for nDevix. Great company with a great guy running it. You won't be disappointed.

  • online.net wants $60 to set up a $13/mo server?

I like that with digicube you get RAID for 12Euros.
If I'd ever consider getting an atom server again, I would rather take this one than OVH.

Hmm I know this is way off but for $25 I could get you this, Intel Atom D525, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD x 2

  • Ain't going to happen.

Edit: Grr, you beat me to it.

  • You could check out CoreNetworks, I know they have a $25 server (sorry, its not 10EUR) but damn close...

Remember when you get to these prices for a dedi, you have to wonder if there is anything inside the rack :P

I am amazed at some people.

    I'm looking for ultra-cheap (<= 10EUR or ~13USD) dedicated servers

    Answers:

herp derp here's an $25 server [opt.: that we sell], because $25 is about equal to $13 right

  • The difference between paying the extra $12 is you aren't getting a pizza box with the $25 package. Personally I wouldn't mind paying the extra, however to each his own.. Does anyone here have any experience with Dedibox or Digicube?

Completely missed note 1 - I wondered why no-one had mentioned OVH!
