CentOS equivlent of apt-get udpate/upgrade
Hi,
I am running a production CentOS 6.8, and I would like to upgrade the packages. What is the CentOS equvilenet to running apt-get update and apt-get upgrade?
I don't think I want to upgrade to a new version of CentOS, but just grab and updates/patches to installed software, etc.
Online I found this: su -c 'yum update' but since this is a production server, I wanted to check in with some experienced users before I just start tossing commands at the server.
Best,
-Adam

yum update is enough to update your repos, no issues will cause this.
Use yum and then manually decide what you want to install/update and what you do not.
Use 'yum clean all; yum update -y'.
