Can anyone recommend a LEB for PPTP VPN?
Hi guys,
I've tried searching previous posts for this, but haven't had a lot of luck.
I want to set up a PPTP server to use VPN on iPhone and with a DD-WRT router. Needs to be USA based.
I currently have a VPS with ChicagoVPS running a PPTP server (which has just stopped working, so now seems like a good time to look at changing). ChicagoVPS seems to be okay, but I've had some slow transfer speeds recently (1.5mbps max) and I am very unimpressed with the attitude of their support.
I understand that BuyVM offer PPP enabled VPS, but they are out of stock - I believe they are Canada based though, and this needs to be USA. Is there any other host that allows PPTP VPN hosting with it enabled on the box by default (i.e. I can reinstall the OS without having to raise a ticket to get it reapplied to the VPS)?
Mark.

Their servers are located in the U.S., I think Francisco lives in Canada, or something.
Pretty much anything should be suitable really. Where abouts in the US are you based?

It's KVM so pptp will work without issues.
YEs, but you can use the VPN via their internal IP (USA based :P )
Their IP's are Canadian :P
Thanks for such a quick reply all!
@jtodd - I'm based in the UK, I mainly want a US IP for streaming.
@dmmcintyre3 - I've never had a KVM box before, so PPP doesn't need to be enabled to work?
Loomhosts works great. Kazila too
Nothing node side needs to be done on KVM since each VPS runs it's own kernel and can load their own kernel modules.
How can you tell? The accent?
Has to be the "eh" on the end of the ips.
All those pictures of cases of beer on their website....
LOL Tim hahaha
Canadian owned, but we can provide US IP's just fine
Francisco
Mark,
If you have issues, please open a ticket. We cannot resolve anything if a ticket is not opened.

Chris,
I have opened a support ticket regarding this, 976174.

Hi,
i'm using this offer from NQhost : (Softlayer DC , Dallas)
http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/nqhost-15quarter-128mb-xen-vps-in-dallas/
almost 2 months and their service is excellent , fast replies to support tickets . it's Xen , and easy to setup any type of vpn (actually i have both pptp & IPSec/L2TP servers on it)
+1 for hostigation, rock solid.
Regarding your question about PPP being automaticly enabled. I do not think any OpenVZ Providers currently offer this.
We have TUN/TAP Module auto enabled but personally i think a lowend xen vps will be good for you usage.
