kind of mixed bag too. may be there is a lot of traffic going on for that rack or switch those server are hooked up to.

pincushion said: Is upload limited to 250Mbit/s like with SYS?

on the control panel is stated:

    Bandwidth Type Included
    Network connection 1 Gbps
    Bandwidth OVH/OVH 1 Gbps
    Bandwidth OVH/Internet 250 Mbps
    Bandwidth Internet/OVH 1 Gbps

yet it is nowhere said if this is a limit or more likely their 'guaranteed' bandwidth.

  • That pricing is.. incredible, to be honest.

OVH do pull a blinder with some of their pricing on things like this.

    Thanks

Quick test could be upload speed to online.net if you don't mind.

    Wait:
    Intel Xeon E5-1620v2 / 64GB DDR 3/ 4x2TB HDD / @ 250Mbps for up and @1Gbps for download + 500GB backup for only 45,99 EUR/month?
    Without VAT for only ~39EUR.

Also you can purchase additional guaranteed bandwidth.

    What you waiting for?

The server comes with: 1Gbit NIC, which has 1Gbit/s OVH<->OVH speed

    1Gbit/s Internet<->OVH (download)

    250Mbit/s OVH<->Internet (upload)

and as with other ovh servers you're able to increase/upgrade your bandwidth quality but it costs a lot.

It should also be noted that as its directly under the ovh brand these comes with the "pro" anti-ddos, though i have no real knowledge of the difference.

These also comes with up to a /24 IPv4 block, where all you have to do is pay the setup-fee of 2€ per IP, so yeah you can get a /24 but you have to pay over 500€ in setup-fee's for it :)

And you're able to use ovh's "vRack" so you can for example setup a virtual rack with a server in BHS and in GRA.

Anyone that received his/hers server(s) been able to test if it loads esxi 6.0 fine?

  • I hate LET. Snap one.

  • I gave in. It's gonna replace my two dediboxes if everything goes well.

Saves me about 7€ total but at least I don't have to pay as much for IPs :p

  • Can't give up my dedibox . So, no go.

As far as I'm aware esxi won't work with software raid so it won't be possible.

    sure, here you go:

    # iperf -c ping.online.net

TCP window size: 85.0 KByte (default)

  • I was planning to buy an SSD-based Dedibox 2016 soon, but this got me thinking. I would love to snap one just for the sheer power and capacity (hell, even for a seedbox this thing is amazing), but I really need an SSD for a large database based website + few other VM's I run on the same server for which I currently get IO delays all the time.

I think logically I should pass and get the SSD Dedibox, but emotionally, damn :D

  • Any tips how to best install your custom Linux Iso (Debian) without using their templates? Or, how to make a custom template for that matter?

  • Ahhh I just saw the option for remote KVM. Thanks anyways.

  • anyone can test the ovh<->ovh speed?
can only get 250mbit/s to my SyS or to proof.ovh.net

maybe it will replace my 36€ SyS, the specs are too good for 46€ (double RAM, double HDD, better CPU)

  • hucken said: anyone can test the ovh<->ovh speed? can only get 250mbit/s to my SyS or to proof.ovh.net

    same over here:

    # iperf -c iperf.ovh.net
    ------------------------------------------------------------
Client connecting to iperf.ovh.net, TCP port 5001
TCP window size: 85.0 KByte (default)

    [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
    [ 3] 0.0-10.0 sec 300 MBytes 252 Mbits/sec

    some wget results:

Can somebody tell me how to setup Software Raid 10 with those 4 disks using their installation panel and without a /home partition? Whenever I remove /home from their partition scheme, it tells me that can only choose Raid 1 for / ... Ehm?

Is that normal for Software Raid 10 to have / in Raid 1 and /home in Raid 10? Sounds a bit toasted to me...

  • Another link for US. Comes up to ~$52

seen that too and skipped their templates then. ipmi with pluggin debian netinst.iso into virtual cd drive worked for me. used parted from the installation routine to do the setup in raid10...

make sure to write grub into the mbr of every disks, seems like /dev/sda wasn't the first disk to boot from at least for me ^^

That is correct but you're not forced to setup software raid (fakeraid?) you could just use them as 4 single drives.

  • Could i bug someone to just test esxi 6.0 on these machines?

I plan to get one in GRA and BHS but not that super excited to pay like 100$ for 1 month of service and maybe not even be able to use the machines as intended.

I think yes. The worst case is you must install debian first and setup softraid manually, and then install proxmox. But I don't try it yet. Maybe @Falzo can answer your question :)

    Edited:

    Sorry I don't see @Falzo answer before.

    This is Proxmox statement

IPMI... Oh noes. I hate everything IPMI/KVM related with a passion... :-(

  • Proxmox installer with ZFS 'raid10' ? It will FLY with 64GB ram
