intel 520 SSD Bios doesn't detect, works in USB
I have an old intel 520 SSD which I pulled from a HP server some years back and since last 3 months it was working perfectly in my Desktop. Suddenly yesterday it disappeared from explorer I tried to re-seat it, even change Sata port but it won't show. However putting it in a USB 3.0 casing it shows up instantly.
IT doesn't have anything important, I put some Games for my son to play on Desktop on this SSD.
I searched and many people have documented BIOS sometime has issues detecting these Sandforce controllers. The Firmware on the sticker says LB3i
Surprisingly it had been working absolutely fine for me for last 3-4 months.
Any workarounds ?

Have you tried updating the firmware if there is a new one?
SATA controller bad? Try with some other drive on SATA, see if it is detected.
Btw what chipset is this?
Also could be bad power cable, try powering the SSD with another cable. Also check in the BIOS in the hardware monitoring if the voltages (5V and 12V) seem normal.
I'm using a 2.5 Hard drive in the same port working fine... Just this intel SSD doesn't work, I tried on 2 different ports with separate power cables.
Then intel SSD toolbox I downloaded doesn't support 520 and doesn't detect it from the USB. I'm not sure if there is a firmware update but intel's site say a version 400i but I'm stumped how I would update it ?
Intel SSD toolkit won't detect through USB. Only directly through SATA.
but if it is not even being detected by bios, what use is the SSD toolkit ?
Any 3rd party tool to update/reflash this SSD via USB ?
Try a different mobo
