Time4VPS Network Speed - Is it good?

Hi,

Can someone share their experience with Time4VPS network? Is it fast in Europe and USA?

It would be great if you can share speed test results using "bench" tool.

Thanks

    @Falzo and @Ympker

Thanks for the test results. Network seems to be slow, with a max 5.3MB from Cachefly and no more than 7.75MB to Netherlands.

I guess it's ok for a backup server, but for hosting just seems to slow. I don't remember see such a low result from Cachefly.

I'm saying this because on their website it says each VPS as a dedicated 400Mbps network port.

That's called marketing. I am not aware of any VPS provider who offers dedicated network port. However other than that time4vps is a good provider, also the network speed might be a bit higher on their regular plans.

You guys are used to seeing high cachefly results, however noone takes in consideration that most of the times the test is being done to Cachefly's edge in the same datacenter, 1ms away from the host node. Which is nowhere near accurate measurement of actual speed.

Its pretty nice for its price. (I have a 1tb storage box) I use it to store photos & videos.
Here's a screenshot while I was downloading files from the office & uploading my backups to Google Drive last week.

  • did a few more, depending on your needs and locations you have to decide if this fits your expectations at the given price ;-)

I am paying 23,80 biannual for 512 GB on this, so I'd say it's quite satisfying for my needs.

    corrected that for you ;-)

  • Thanks all for the test results. I was hoping for a better speed in Europe.. but i guess that for the price is still a good option.

I will try them for backups, but for hosting the network speed in Europe is too slow.

  • How fast do you expected to all Europe country?

  • @tommy said:

I don't have a fixed number. But at least an average network speed between 15 to 40MB to main European locations like UK, DE and FR.

  • They are excellent for backups. Anything extra is a gift horse.

@time4vps are launching KVM soon ; waiting to see if they'll be competitive with German KVM providers like netcup and servercow(I love mee some RAM)

They only guarantee up to 200 Mbps (about 20 MB), ask them pricing for additional b/w. Don't expected you got 200 Mbps all the time.
    Average I got 8 MB (64 Mbps)

    Hello everyone,

glad to see all the test results. What should be considered before ordering VPS or Storage server is that port speed and actual network speed is different things. All our servers receives 400 Mbps dedicated port speed and it is reachable. However actual network speed depend not only by our network infrastructure but also by all infrastructure between your end and ours.

  • It really depends on the time of day but I've seen myself max the 400mb out from the UK to one of their storage boxes. Other times i struggle to get 4mb. For the money/space ratio I cant really fault them. I've had storage boxes for a couple of years and the only time I had any issue was when I downsized a linux box by mistake (ooops)

Really nice Monitorix graphics...do you use FreeBSD or just mac?

How do you get the graphs to float around though?
