If OVZ is OK and a sole purpose is backup (IOPS limit), I would opt for above mentioned Time4VPS.

Its not mainly for backup, but also some simpel wordpress sites

    And no ovz

  • You listed your requirement's as a cheap backup server, so is this for backups of Wordpress Sites, or to run the Wordpress sites on?

Our storage line might be interesting for you.
    https://www.liteserver.nl/en/storage-vps-series-openvz-vps/

Our 256MB plan comes with 200GB storage.
This plan has 9% additional discount when paying on yearly base. On top of that we have currently a 15% off coupon which makes a total of 24% discount.
With this discount you're only paying 23,20 euro on yearly base :-)

It seems OP clearly said no OVZ, be more attentive next time please. I see you have KVM storage offers too, which are fairly pricey though.

ovz is normally oversold, good luck.

That's true, but how can disk space be oversold? I imagine if you tried to use your space and got "out of space" message while df still shows you are under your quota then it would warrant a ticket with the provider.

Sure, but rarely is space that is ordered ever anywhere near completely utilized. I'd say disk space is one of the safest things to oversell. People tend to order more than they need for futureproofing reasons. Some actual providers can probably chime in on this.

Exactly! And the only other resource that matters for backup is bandwidth, which can be oversold just as easily with any virtualization or even dedi. So for backup it really doesn't matter if it's openvz or kvm.

It's no wonder, since their price is exceptionally low. Good luck finding similar ovz offers, not to speaking of kvm/xen/wmware/hyper-v ones.

If 150gb isn't a must, @AshleyUk used to offer 1GB/120GB KVM in DE/FR for £16/year, it might be restocked soon, who knows. I believe their price tag is going to be increased though.
