edited March 2013 in General

As per the thread title.

Looking for suggestions, I have crawled WHT looking for as close to New York as I can find but no dice so far.

Anyone got any suggestions or offers?

Looking for quad core something, older CPU is fine, 4+ GB Ram.

Ant.

http://newyorkcityservers.com/ is probably about as cheap as it gets, otherwise keep an eye out for the constant.com posts

  • Budget?

Thanks @fly I did look at them and did find cheaper too however I really don't need an E3-1230 level server

@Jack, worth considering, would be interested to see what they could do for €60 :)

Neither do QuickPacket if your waiting on a response from them :) Aside from that though those servers and their support is excellent.

    Ah... my bad

IPv6 is required yeah, and yes you are correct :)

  • Ant, would a large KVM box work? I have no idea what your doing.

@jack where are you seeing these prices? I can't find any of the servers you mentioned lol!

    @Jack I don't believe they do.

  • agoldenbergagoldenberg Member, Host Rep

Not really I need dedicated Disk IO and CPU cores and a routed IPv6 block not individual assigned IP's

  • @AnthonySmith said: routed IPv6 block not individual assigned IP's

You can route a ipv6 block to KVM.

Unfortunately since NY, especially NYC space and power costs are through the roof compared to other places in the country it's unlikely you'll find a provider offering budget pricing. Your best bet would be the NJ area (constant specially) Or you can try colocrossing providers in buffalo if that's that too far away for you.

Thanks for the mention. We can offer custom configurations to fit anyone's needs. You can email [email protected] for a custom quote.

Was the other provider located directly inside New York City? We'll match or beat pricing of any NYC provider that offers the same server configuration and SLA as we do for cheaper.

We also use brand new Supermicro equipment which I'm sure you know is not cheap :(

    http://www.wiresix.com/newserver/L5520-dedicated-server.html

    We have Dual L5520 w/72GB Ram, 2 x 500GB, and 10TB on 100mbps port @ $99

If you hit me up we also have some alternate configurations we can do an even better deal on ;)

    Also have Q9xxx w/8GB and 2 x 500GB we can do @ $39

Direct from NAC. Bandwidth doesn't get much better, no other provider on here could match their setup, peers or quality. Mostly due to the fact they grew from a small dial-up ISP in the 90s and have numerous POPs / uplinks and even more peers.

Thanks @Kris although again an E3-1230 is a little OTT it might be an option, I will email them regarding IPv6.

  • flyfly Member

    nac.net is awesome

  • RyanDRyanD Member

NAC does indeed have a great network

IPv6 is on board, and not just HE.net ASN tunnel with a backup like others : http://bgp.he.net/AS8001#_asinfo

Had colo at MMU (Cedar Knolls) when it was brand new, it's an amazing data center, and the latency / peering cannot be beat.

@AnthonySmith We have IPv6 in Atlanta, but haven't released it to customers yet. It is coming in short order - we are planning to do some testing with select customers first before offering it to everyone.

Our inventory of systems changes a lot, but we typically have the following available:

    Dual Xeon L5420
    16 GB RAM
    1 TB Hard Drive
IPMI/iLO or Dedicated KVM over IP (depending on availability)
    5 IPv4 addresses
    10 TB Bandwidth / 1 Gbps Port

    $69.99 per month

Right now, we also have the following available:

    Core 2 Quad Q9550
    8 GB RAM
    500 GB Hard Drive
    5 IPv4 addresses
    10 TB Bandwidth / 1 Gbps Port

$39.99 per month (one server available)

    Dual Xeon L5420
    8 GB RAM
    1 TB Hard Drive
    5 IPv4 addresses
    10 TB Bandwidth / 1 Gbps Port

$49.99 per month (one server available)

Our bandwidth mix is nLayer, Inteliquent (Tinet), and Cogent.
