solusvm OS X dashboard widget

I've been working on a Dashboard widget for OS X to monitor my VPSs. It seems to be working quite well so far.

It uses the solusvm API for getting VPS status. Is this something that is worth tidying up and distributing?

Would very much like that! Well done.

  • Well this looks awesome, I'd totally be interested ;D

  • As a fellow OSX user I would very much like to use this. Very nicely done for interface as well.

  • Would definitely use this!

Nice! Can you make a Windows one?

If you're willing to share the source code, I might be able to make a KDE/Plasma widget version of it.

I guess I ought to tidy it and make a release. :)

@shovenose I can't make a Windows one but a widget it just HTML and JavaScript. It should work with http://kludgets.com.

Okay. Consider this a beta release. You can get the widget here:
    https://xmob.me/static/downloads/VMWidget/VMWidget_current.zip

The status refresh is currently set to 1 minute. You can of course refresh manually. This interval may change.

I need to add more providers to the drop down. For now, you can use the custom option and enter the host/port for you chosen provider. For example: "https://control.xxxvps.co.uk:5656"

There's no sanity checking of this value, so be careful with your input. Providers can PM their details if they want me to include them in future releases.

I'm keen to hear feedback/bug reports. Feel free to PM me.

It's virtually impossible to hide/protect code in widgets. If you do use/modify the code, please just leave credit.

Hm, looks like it uses a bunch of stuff that's built into OSX (specifically, a few javascript libraries). That's unfortunate.

Hehe. I name all my computers after planets from the Star Wars universe. I used to use Red Dwarf characters, but I ran out of those.

  • I personally didn't really like the bars showing resource usage, they're not rectangle enough.

Guess it is only of any use with openvz but a nice idea and looks great.

A quick update to 0.3. I agree with @SimpleNode and have changed the bars.

Download from same link as above.
