I think that currently the majority of E3 and E5 SYS server is equipped with ECC RAM, but it's better to ask

how many of you did manage to get a SYS server with ECC ram?

  • I'd assume that they will be sticking to ECC RAM since it's cheaper to get used parts. Non-ECCs are more expensive most of the time.

My two SYS E3 servers (1245v2) came with NON-ECC RAM. One received 4 months, the other 3 days ago.

Let's say, 4x8GB ECC memory is about $70 on ebay, while 4x8GB desktop memory is about $120. If I'm going to do server business I'd never go with desktop grade since it's more expensive.

EDIT: Well, I could be wrong.
