Issue accessing LowEndTalk

Hi Guys,

Keep on having trouble accessing LET since yesterday. The issue seems intermittent, I able to access for a while then gateway timeout. Is it happening to Malaysia only or everyone?

Error 504 Ray ID: 2a1a0038b58b31bc • 2016-05-12 01:12:41 UTC

Yeah, has been happening for a while, must be DDoS.

I guess they'll need to add some capacity to the cluster :P

  • You're not alone young man. This is what we call clusterfuck.

  • Wow, I thought only us in Malaysia are having such issue

    Clusterfuck :) Nice term!

Oh yes! Thanks for the reminder. Appreciate it a lot!

Anyhow, I am just trying to highlight an issue here.

  • Do not worry, LET is a DDOS magnet, so nothing new.

Sounds like some sort of collective false memory. You guys should give this a watch:

I guess LET shouldn't have made the direct IP (cough 23.**.150.***) so obvious. I mean, didn't ColoCrossing have 10 whopping gigabits of protection? At least my OVH server can handle that ._.

    EDIT: IP partially redacted

  • My todo list is now shorter thanks to downtime.

    I love you DDOSers

Been having issues with accessing LowEndTalk since yesterday. Bleh who on earth is even spending money on free packets to the backend? Don't think it's even worth it...

though that satisfaction is probably worth it to script kiddies cause they love breaking things for others :/

I thought it just my browser, but the issue started yesterday - showing randomly the error 504.

I was unable to access LET several times yesterday. It happens from time to time. I am in California, USA. If it happens to you, be patient. LET will come back.

  • The issues are people attack the websites. It's a never ending battle.

Change your backend ip then, it's widely known.

Aye, this needs to be done. It's only revealed by past knowledge (archived at a certain site) at this point, there's no particular place that the IP is actively leaking to my knowledge. An IP change shouldn't be a waste of time.

  • I've taken steps to prevent access to the IP from anywhere but Cloudflare, so it won't matter now.

I think most of the reasons for DDOSing let will be egotistical/personal ones. Not much of a business case for it.

At this point this sort of thing is so routine it doesn't even phase me.

    I'm still getting 504 errors :(

  • I just restarted one of the haproxy instances which was misbehaving. I think that was the source of the problem.
