    Any reason?

I am always interested in a singapore VPS. Going to say yes for this one.

  • natalyanatalya Member

No, for Softlayer DC. They change their upstreams far too often.

Because the the traceroute between server to China is very bad.
Sometimes the network latency is worse than the US.

Better specs and less prices than DO does. That formula of success :)

Quite a lot of providers in Singapore by now. Could you consider Hong Kong or Japan instead (even if still on Softlayer)?

Also I will not buy any OpenVZ, but I'm surprised you are thinking of a new deployment on Xen. Why not KVM?

As for prices, should be the same or less compared to the widely known competition -- in this case yours will be http://oneprovider.com/onecloud/ssd-virtual-servers, offering KVM VMs in SG/HK/Japan Softlayer datacenters at $5 for 512 MB RAM, 20GB SSD, 1TB bandwidth.

Maybe due to bad links, but for China, we route IPs US => CN via CU/CT having ~145 ms stable

    ping/traceroute 173.82.2. 222 latency still bad?

    rm_ said: Why not KVM?

We will have KVM soon :) no ETA

Yes for some of my Pure Indian clients... only if the latency is <70/80ms from North India with minimum hop counts. Secondly if the cost can be about $10-15/mo for a 2-3gb RAM. Can live with HDD and less monthly transfer... but upstream bandwidth should be good for concurrent connections

If DC is Softlayer/DO or any other big DC like HG, etc then big No.

    Virtualization: Xen - Non oversold.

    Price: Cheaper then market price

I don't like Softlayer because of I see many case where customer complain that their server is terminated for xyz violation and they do not allow to get backup of data.

  • Softlayer isn't exactly a host that is targeted at VPS providers, especially with their new bandwidth pricing. At least they are cool with announcing IP space, so beats LeaseWeb...

Before any of that happens, both China/HK and Japan need to get larger uplinks. The congestion is awful at times :/

The more the merrier.. Bring it on!

    My answer is yes
KVM prefered. (Xen also OK OVZ not accepted)
Price? The same as DO(a little discount when pay quartly)
Since softlayer isn't cheap. Why don't consider other DC? :)

    Like? Yes
    Openvz fine

Really needed OVZ for $5 if can buy KVM for that cost?

What? I think you have it backwards. Sure DO has SG, but aside from that, wouldn't say so.

  • FaiziFaizi Member

Cheap yearly OVZ 64MB or 128MB with ipv4 would be nice for VPN or private proxy.

You wouldn't say what? That it has a dozen of providers already, almost all with LEB-priced offers?
