SYS-IP-1 BHS 10 mins review, pretty decent deal overall as there is no setup fee atm.

  • Network is for sure OVH grade, 1Gbps link speed. Most of the time able to do more than 250Mbps as advertised
  • HDD is HGST SATA 7200rpm, at least it's enterprise grade
  • Slightly better CPU than on spec page (Xeon W3530 instead of W3520)
  • Motherboard Supermicro X8STi, still a desktop grade hardware?
  • DDR3 1333 ECC RAM
  • Extra IPs are almost free

If you want to test something else, feel free to let me know.

dmidecode was showing 1333, may be that just the spd, will double check later.

  • I'd call the motherboard a workstation grade. Usually desktop grade mobo doesn't come with names like Xeon and ECC.

I rather not using paper. Since you really need to put a lot of investment in HVAC to avoid fire.

  • david_W said: Maximum Capacity: 192 GB

There is no way this Xeon supports 192GB, it max out at 24GB. You should do a Geekbench benchmark and post the link here so we can compare.

True, but I'd not define a mobo supporting Xeon and ECC as desktop grade. It's sort of in the middle of server and desktop grade, so instead of calling it workstation grade, maybe I should say half-server grade? ;)

I think those motherboards where custom made by OVH back in the days, that's why there's no product name and such...
