Dos Deflate For Windows/2003?

There is absolutely no way in hell I'll open ports on my 2003 server unless with some type of simple dos protection. Does anyone know any simple lightweight ones? I've been searching forever, the only ones I found are paid bloated software..

The closest I've found is:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/qaaswall-window/?source=navbar

Which seems very promising. This is exactly why I hate windows, but unfortunately it's the only option for my project.

Are you really worried about denial of service attacks on it? I'd think brute force protection would be the primary concern.

  • this is article explaining about ddos protection with registry hack here: http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=371702

if you googling, you'll find a lot more,

easiest one, is just to install antivirus + firewall, some antivirus did come with firewall / IDS/ whatever stuff, as a bundle, you should look at this option.

  • (D)DoS is where network switches and pipes are overloaded, not the actual server...

  • software can minimize the effect on the server.

Especially if it's a weak flood and there's no decent firewall shielding the system. It's not an amazing solution but it can help, if one is expecting to be DOS attacked by someone who isn't really in it to win it.

You can Install Bethink Anti DDoS Software, many of our customer use bethik anti ddos software.

Whatever you guys do, never give UP! Never let the simplicity of Windows urge you to just make the switch, try your best at whatever you're doing and stick with it! Here is a thread that I made with a problem with wine & d2gs.

http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=18306 ( As you can see on post #4 I was quite mad :/ )

Took me around 3days to finally figure out how to get it running. Now I can safely run this baby on debian. I really hate all the problems I had with wine, but then again; without wine, this wouldn't really be possible imo. But in any event, moral of the story, don't give up and don't give into the windows temptation...

There were so many times where I just wanted to say "F it, i'll just buy a windows vps!", but I stuck with it and finally figured it out. I am so happy I decided to update this thread, sorry haha.
