VPS: VPN + Personal Torrent

I'm new to LET, so please be gentle :)

I've tried a couple searches, and was unable to find an answer to my question.

I'm looking for an economical VPS which can be used for personal torrenting. I would like to connect to the VPS via VPN, and I would like to have the VPS connect to a commercial VPN for torrenting.

Me <-- VPN --> VPS <-- VPN --> torrenting, etc.

Are there providers out there that are ok with this? Does this make sense?

Don't use a VPN for torrenting from a VPS, just get the VPS in one network which doesn't care about P2P abuse.

Thanks for the reply. One reason for the VPN on the VPS was I thought it would be more palatable to VPS providers. Is there a list of P2P friendly LEB providers? $30-40/yr budget.

Thank you, but the offers were a bit too pricy for my liking.

You pay for what you get :)

  • @brianmorton...

I am using virmach cheap vps for torrenting ...Just make sure you dont push the I/O and network to the limits and you will be good...

  • Most providers probably won't even notice/care if you're torrenting as long as you don't cause problems on the node or get copyright notices

Plus the guy probably will be fine anyways unless he's in the U.S. on Comcrap.

  • Put OpenVPN on a cheap, but well connected, server and start torrenting. This doesn't have to be complicated.

That's just about what I'm looking to do - any suggestions for a provider?

Also; "Torrents (Only allowed in US locations - must be limited to 20Mbps total)"
Oh and they ofcourse don't allow illegal content, so just seed/download your favourite linux distro's.

I forgot that was in their Acceptable Use Policy and I guess it could be a limitation for some people. However, 20Mbps is a pretty fast connection. Akamai reports the average in USA is under 12Mbps. As for "illegal" content, that's another issue and I think it's going to be a problem with any provider if they start getting letters. I think the only practical solution to that is to go with a commercial VPN.

This looks very interesting. Just 1 problem.

When I tried to order, I was a greeted with:

"The product/service you have chosen requires a domain name. Please enter your domain name below."

  • Hello, hellbump! HSRO is setup kind of strange. Just make up something.

  • juicewilder said: "The product/service you have chosen requires a domain name. Please enter your domain name below."

you can put any domain like : test.com there.

You can untick "This product requires a domain name" from product setting page :)

  • We don't feature service bans so VPN, torrenting is allowed with us (no DMCA bullshits and etc)

    BuyVM is another option.

A cheap kimsufi is also a good choice.

  • You can use any VPN to connect your VPS with it. But make a wise decision because every VPN isn't that good than they display.
For that purpose, I would recommend you to use a VPN which must have fastest servers in that respective country like Ivacy or PureVPN & yeah Nord is a good option too.
If you are confused about the safety? then read this content if this VPN is safe or not?. This might help you.
& By the way, Can you share which VPS you using, please?

  • edwardgreen said: PureVPN

    No, just no.

If you're gonna be a shill, at least promote the decent companies.

If you're going to use private tracker then most providers will be OK, But if using public tracker then the best options I can think of:
    @cociu
@exception0x876 (contact him first to confirm) https://www.wishosting.com/order/main/packages/VPS/?group_id=2

    https://www.scaleway.com/pricing/

Yep, just get an OVH or Scaleway and stop overcomplicating everything.
You don't need to VPS into VPN into I2P into Tor into another VPN just to torrent.

  • also you can use services like real-debrid. They download torrents to their servers and give you a direct https link

  • Private tracker need a ratio 1.0, realdebrid not seed torrent.

gods.lu doesn't have a forced ratio just "stay in seed for 3 hours at least" rule.
But it's a german tracker with mostly german content. I guess there are similar trackers in the US.
