VPS for Development

I need a (relatively) cheap VPS for development. Any virt will do - KVM is preferred but not required. I prefer North America (ideally close to Toronto, ON, Canada), but not a absolute requirement.

Ideal specifications:

50 GB (or greater) Hard Drive

2 TB Bandwidth @ 1gbit

1 - 2 GB RAM

Under $25/year ideally, I'm open to 3/6 month terms also.

Payable via VISA (Stripe preferred, for some reason PayPal doesn't like my credit card, but it always goes through on Stripe or any other payment besides PayPal).

Bought a 4G box a couple of weeks back. So far, it seems to perform well, without any downtime. (Restocked sporadically)

Did I mention it is dirt cheap?

Take a look at ZXPlay 1GB KVM VPS (aff link) for $23/yr in CA OVH. If West Coast is OK, check VPEasy current KVM offers too.

  • VPEasy is a great option...for Development server/yearly but only if you know how to manage the server... which usually isn't the case with Devs.

what "manage the server" part are you talking about if it is for development? lol

I would go with dedistation for a dev server.

I have a dev box with them and it has been flawless

    3GB DDR3 RAM
    50GB Disk Space
    2 CPU Cores
    3TB bandwidth @ 1Gbps
    OVH DDoS Protection
    1 IPv4 Address, 10 IPv6
    Canada Datacenter

    for $15 a year

    Its a steal.

  • Just out of curiosity, why you need 2T bandwidth for a development server? If you just need develop something in linux, why not use vagrant?
