  • Damn @black. 75 iops at CVPS.... That's a quality company right there :) Seems to be how their discs spin in Chicago, floppy style.

    BoostVPS (Chicago, IL)
    10 requests completed in 9003.4 ms, 4866 iops, 19.0 mb/s

  • Come on @KernelSanders CVPS is fine. You just aren't drinking the kool-aid either. :)

    Seriously, embarassing IOPs.

  • I guess selling 2GB RAM VPS at LEB prices has some repercussions huh @pubcrawler

  • Nah, CVPS is not always that slow. At times it gives pretty nice results >10k iops, at other times it gives as low as 20 iops. Every test I did wasn't the same result, it was last month though before I cancelled my 2GB plan.

I'm here to collect your heart

  • I just had a container restart and everything to test this Chicago instance... Whew.

A floppy would certainly outperform this. In all fairness, it's just probably CVPS/CC gear. Since someone else manages the server (or so I believe) it's not their fault.

    Horrendous.

Yeah, I thought it was a bit low too. I'm actually running a few tests and as @DalComp said, it varies greatly. I'll keep an eye on it though, to see if I can get this resolved.

    Yeah that's a very very good result @Knownhost :)

  • See Directspace with their 108 iops. That has to be one of the worst providers ever. The last LEB offer got its share of negative comments.

  • Knownhost is by far the most impressive managed provider that I ever came across in ALL aspects. They are outstanding. And I have been with managed "Gems" like WiredTree, Rackspace, Gigenet, FutureHosting and ServInt. Knownhost/RocketVPS are awesome. But they are clearly not in the LEB sector while still cheap for their service quality.

    min/avg/max/mdev = 0.1/0.2/0.3/0.1 ms

  • Those are great numbers @belinik. Surprised at the top one. Has to be an empty node or something.

  • DO AMS1

    10 requests completed in 9005.7 ms, 2578 iops, 10.1 mb/s

@belinik is the result consistent over several tests?

  • @DalComp I think it was between 5 minute interval as initially I was doing it with centmin's ioping script and have similar result. Then I look around for the original script as the format was different.

    just did it again:
    10 requests completed in 9001.5 ms, 13928 iops, 54.4 mb/s
    min/avg/max/mdev = 0.0/0.1/0.1/0.0 ms

It's not normal for them - they're a good provider and the only downtime i've had was when they had drive issues (which they might have once more?).

@httpzoom said: I'd think your VPS is having major problems

I only use it as a slave nameserver - nothing fancy.

It's all good. If I do one thing here it is encourage folks to monitor things like a hawk and be proactive. See @jarland if you need some recommendation on how to accomplish such.

    @black,

Chris has informed me of the node that your VPS resides on, I was actually already working on this node earlier after being alerted by our monitoring system, but wasn't able to update this post as I didn't realize you were on this node until Chris informed me.

Regardless, this now looks to be resolved. There was an abuser on the node running some P2P/Torrents which is prohibited activity according to our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. The appropriate action has been taken against the abuser, and the disk I/O appears to be back to normal speed:

    10 requests completed in 9001.8 ms, 9524 iops, 37.2 mb/s

    min/avg/max/mdev = 0.1/0.1/0.1/0.0 ms

Please don't hesitate to send in a ticket if you experience any further issues, we're always happy to help =)

    Thanks,

    Kevin
