Just so everyone is clear: This is not to be confused with a physical dedicated server, it's the new "smart server" which is basically a KVM VPS.

Surely dedicated or I can't think of a reason to use the word at all. Fair question though.

You should've used the quotation marks on cloud instead of Easter ;)

2 dedicated cores (I would assume?), 120GB SSD space, 5 ips, and 10TB? I think that's a nice deal for the $16.25 promo price, would be a good VPS. Bookmarked :).

As long as it's not being abused as a loophole, I really don't mind if members post deals they find outside of the offer rules.

That's originally what LET was long back in the day...LEAdmin would find cool things and come back with his war stories. As long as people aren't spamming aff links, I like people sharing cool stuff they've found.

hmm, couldn't resist to try something outside of europe (at least for a month) ... 5 IPs and somewhat dedicated ressources screaming for setting up some small virtualization on top of it.

so far service has been provisioned instantly after payment, VNC relies on java though.

first short bench looks ... not especially overwhelming ;-)

yeah just playing around. first month is paid though, so just willing to see how this works out. so far I am somewhat disappointed of the network, getting an standard-iso image of debian via cdn comes down to rates around 3-4 MB/s

    Retrieving speedtest.net configuration...
    Retrieving speedtest.net server list...
    Testing from ColoCrossing (23.45.67.89)...

and nested virtualization (KVM) does not work, at least I am not getting it to work via proxmox. I may have a look into lxc containers though ;-)

So, how much VPS they put per node since the cores are dedicated, 2 ? That would be really surprising... I'm sure there is some sort of gimmick here ;)

  • jarjar Patron Provider, Top Host, Veteran

I picked it up since the website claims dedicated resources. Performs pretty well thus far. I went for the SSD option.

I think the node is 4 cores, 8 threads so there should be 4 in total? Think that since 8x4 = 32G RAM then.

Just pick one, but it seems the 120G SSD is not mounted by default, so only 2G partition there. Might need to fdisk later tomorrow.

Weird. Didn't have that problem. Probably the OS image.
