What is the most simple way to setup reverse proxy for my shared hosting website?
Hello, what is the most simple way to setup reverse proxy for my shared hosting website so the possible DoS attacker do not know shared hosting server IP?
I would like to buy DDoS filtered IP from company like buyvm. I know about GRE tunnel or such, but feels complicated. I would like to do it myself and learn it along the way. Is there any easy tutorial, prefferably OpenVZ VPS compatible?
Currently im using Cloudflare, but MX record allow discovering real IP.

Install nginx then use the config here

How does that work?
You buy a tunnelled IP and just use that in your config? No need for second server like with GRE tunnel?
I would like to vote for Caddy. Dead simple to set up and pretty powerful.
Do so on a DDoS protected VPS and you should be fine.
As for your leak through the MX record: Let another server handle that, not sure if messing with a GRE tunnel is the best choice in this case...
Agree, MTU issues not simple to solve.
Why you don't host directly in buyvm? will be the quick and effective try.
You said shared hosting so I assumed cPanel.
You buy a VPS that has a DDOS protected IP (I use an OVH France VPS).
You install NGINX on the VPS, and then use the config I provided in my thread.
You set your Cloudflare's A record to your VPS's ip.
So basically
Visitors --> Cloudflare --> DDOS Protected VPS --> Shared Hosting
Your visitors will never be able to find out your webservers ip
@postcd
this and use external smtp like mandrill
if i remember correctly mandrill does leak original ip
It doesn't need to follow with mandrill, it's just example op can use with similiar service who doesn't leak ip
Mandrill is no longer fee. I recommend using Mailjet.
They are free and do not leak ip
wrote a quick tutorial https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/78245/how-to-setup-an-nginx-reverse-proxy
The simplest way is to use cloudflare. I imagine you'll make more money selling some poor guy who thinks you're an actual sysadmin a VPS he doesn't need though, am I right?
Where's your op people. He'll ignore everything
Yep, just like her other thread.
op is silent, has nothing usefull to add maybe just say "thanks alot for usefull ideas" i will try to apply them and also watch xaitmi topic
Got it assh*le
