Any VPS recommendations in Germany?

Hi!

I am currently looking for a reliable VPS Provider in Germany.
The hosting company should be German, if possible.

I know there is EDIS, but I already host a few VPS with them but you know.. you shouldn't put all eggs in one basket.

My next choice would be Iperweb/Prometeus, but they are not in Germany and further it's the same situation like with EDIS - I already have a few VPS there.
The only German host left I know about is ProviderService, but they kinda "disappeared" after their first promotion. I'd love to have one more server with them.

I am currently with fileMEDIA but the uplink is not that great. Max 1-2MB/s. Even though the server will run "just" Nagios my nightly backups need up to an hour with even less than 1MB due to smaller files being transferred.

If you don't know a German host, which one would you recommend where you would put your Nagios setup on? It should be close to Germany.
(I guess most of you will recommend me Prometeus..)

If you are not looking for LEB prices, I am with this guys

    http://afterburst.com/

Previously FanaticalVPS, and I am really happy since almost 2 years ago.

I can really recommend ProviderService. ATM i have a uptime of 150 days with them and their servers cost 4€/512mb RAM.

  • Thanks you two.

@yomero: Indeed, afterburst is not that "LEB" priced, but I will consider it ;)

@gsrdgrdghd (had to copy-paste your name): Yea, my ProviderService Xen VPS are rock stable, have 2x100days uptime with them now.

Worth a third one I'd say. Still, looking for others..

  • Go with @GetKVM_Ash in Dusseldorf. Service second to none. Link: GetKVM.

  • We pretty much specialise in Germany. All our servers have dual gbit full duplex links.

    Thanks for all your replies.
@BenND : Thanks for the info. I also got two VPS with you ;) 2x1GB OVZ.
I will also consider choosing you.

@netadmin : Also thanks for the recommendation of GetKVM. Heard only good things about them.

    @Albert: looks promising, thanks ;)

    @rm_: That's what I think, too :)

BTW: I will reinstall Nagios _one last time: on the server I am going to purchase.

It's my 3rd setup then and there has always been this "little bit" that did not convince me. And this shall be the last one.

We host our node in DE with http://fremaks.de/, they provide VPS as https://futurevps.de/

  • Go for GetKVM
If you want something in Netherlands i advise also fusioned.net

Both of them have very good support

  • Okay guys.
Thank you all for your input.
I guess I will try out GetKVM. Unfortunately their KVMs are out of stock (how ironic)..

I will check tomorrow if the situation with fileMEDIA has improved, otherwise I am going to drop them and move over to GetKVM :)

Btw. One OT question: The load on my nagios setup is really high (2.0 atm).
The server has got 512MB ram, 2x1,0GHz CPU and 50GB HDD (KVM).
I am currently monitoring 6 servers and 24 services.

Ioping raises up to 50ms, DD reports "only" 50Mb/s.

I guess the bottleneck is the HDD here?

  • @Shigawire

Do an ioping on the main drive for the iops and you'll soon know if it's the hdd or not (probably is)

Meh. I hate it that a provider fucks the shit up and I have to care about... It's my spare time that's being spent on new set-ups ;(

    I've requested a node-migration.

    Reliable:
    ColorHost.de
    MisterHost.de
Contabo.com (formerly Giga-International.com, own their own datacenter)

    Honorable Mention:
Cinfu.com (Hetzner DC, 50% off specials available on WHT)

ProviderService is the only Germany one I have right now, and it's been very reliable so far.

Yeah, great bw and pretty good service for the low price. I left them last year, tho, not because was a bad service, but I already have enough VPS in EU and had the host1free in germany. I was very happy with them.

All mentioned prices are incl. 19% tax for european customers, excl. tax for all other customers.

OK, this is downright sleazy, and might be even illegal. It means
    1) we will not remove VAT for you;
    2) we are pricing our services differently depending on where you are from.

ProviderService on the other hand does correctly remove VAT for non-EU customers.

  • Wow.
Thanks for all your comments, folks. I love this community.
That's a lot to decide now. I wanted to go with a KVM here.
I'd pick GetKVM but their 512MB KVM is not in the LEB-range anymore.

Would you recommend to use the OVZ one for a Nagios setup or rather go with KVM here?

Although we offer services in Germany (two locations), I would like to let you know that you can't go wrong with @GetKVM_Ash. He runs a tight ship, you will enjoy the quality of service :)

@Shigawire I am sure if you speak to Ash, He might throw a good deal? :P

    colorhost.de
    they are very good
and vps6.net are very good but it is not German company

  • Edis.at great, really, dd show me 250MB/s; good IO, etc benchmarks are very good.
Very good ping for russian/ukraine/ europe/ USA, and to PH. i love them, but i want to change edis.at to nodedeploy, because by the same money i can get more resources only thats why, anyway, with edis.at i am more than 1 year, and i really love edis support, edis services. But if they will a littlebit smaller cost, i will comeback to them again.

    Sorry for my bad english.
P.S. i still looking for good & cheap vps in germany with good ping. i will megre to Nodedeploy with prometeus i think, i will have the same resources as like with edis.at

  • You have a lot of good choices in here. However Ash can get you a good deal, just contact sales or PM him.

  • Once again, thank you to everybody that recommended us.

Its nice to know your doing something right and people appreciate it :)

  • So guys..
    I have contacted @GetKVM_Ash.
He worked out a very generous discount for me and I am just setting up the VPS.
    A great thank you to @GetKVM_Ash :)

Thank you all for your comments, I didn't know there were so many German VPS providers.

I will keep this thread in mind for future choices :)
