Hey guys,

yesterday night was bind running, but today is one of my sites down and the rest are running. As I can see is Bind the problem, but when I try to run it I get this error:

I dont know what happened, everything was running fine until last night.

can you please help me how to fix that?

    Sounds like the syntax in one or more of your zones are broken. Check the zone files for the referenced domains. Look closely, the errors tell you which lines are bad.

    If memory serves, sometimes it will hold the old record while refusing to reload the zones because of the errors, still responding with old zones, until you're forced to restart bind altogether and then it fails because it always reloads the zones on service restart.

    Memory value is less than it was, since I don't troubleshoot bind every day anymore.

    I have A records, but only 1 domain isnt working anymore, the others are still working.. Bind stopped though.

  • that's what I was thinking, shouldn't have worked at all if records were not in place from the beginning. if it worked back then, don't matter old or new record, it should work now, bind doesn't break for no reason.

    can you ping IP for that domain?

    Most likely means that you're pinging the hostname and not the IP. Also, likely unknown host because your DNS server is down.

    You need to correct the issues with the zone files as specified in the error that you originally pasted, then restart bind. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, or don't have someone that can do it for you, I would recommend using an external DNS host like CloudFlare.

    Just change the DNS at CloudFlare to point to the IP of your server that houses the website.
